3D graphics

Post by ygvbBubblez » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:21 am

This is a thread where people can show off 3D creations, ask for help with making 3D graphics or suggest things to be modeled.
What's your favorite 3D modeling program?
I also would like to get critiques of my works so I can improve my future modeling, please critique away. :D
Here's my contribution to this thread:
This is a 3D rendering of a laboratory wall, with all sorts of flasks.
Made with Blender3D.
It's kinda a WIP, almost done I guess.

I know, a thread like this probably belongs on Blender's forums or something, but I want to try it here and see how it goes. :D
How many 3D modelers are out there? (Even if your not a 3D modeler, your comments and critiques are very welcome).

Very impressive Bubbles, I don't think anyone else here is a 3d modeler (why noone posted) but that deserves credit, nice work! :D

My software of choice is 3DS Max. I know I should be learning Maya, but I just can't be bothered.

Here's the same ol' stuff I always post to show off. ;)

J.R., thanks :D, I kinda do, I'm currently selling that model on another website, thanks for your comment!

Here's what I was rendering, took a long time but it's still not fully rendered, I want to fix a few things and re render:
Image
The black areas are un rendered.
I would like some harsh criticism on this one because I'm planning that it be entered in a contest and it needs to be almost as good as possible.
(And yes, I know about the floating present.)

Very nice, Im not sure what to criticize, but you should ask JC for harsh criticism - he has something bad to say about everything.

Here we go. The sealing and the walls seem too reflective, which is made clear by the hanging lights.
Perhaps make it a cozier whole by slightly dimming the overall light level? The painting of a CHristmas tree is a bit too much, add a black and white dog in stead.
Not enough fabric for the curtain.
The bricks of the fireplace feel too clean. Both in shape and texture.
Some particle smoke effects under the chimney? The flames seem random. The floor is too clean. Needs perhaps some bootprints on the floor. Some dust too. The wood seems too plasticky.

Hey, you asked for it. :?

Which software are you allowed to use in the contest?

Thanks, your advice is much appreciated!
You have to make your entry with Blender, you can do some slight editing with Gimp or Photoshop, but it absolutely must be made in Blender.
I would've normally posted my entry in the critique section in the Blender forums for critique, but the contest is on those forums too, and I don't want other contestants seeing my entry just yet (and I've already gotten valuable critiques, thanks :D) .

Much, much better!

But the sock lying on the ground seems a bit off to me. Oh and improve the flames. Also add some more light coming from the flames IMHO.

Cool. :)

Thank you Voltage and MadAce, here's perhaps the final render, with flame edits, sock moving and lighting change:
It's a big render, here's a link.
