Oh boy aren't you inflated with some grand sense of purpose

You are a minor trifling in my day, a slight amusement between the stuff I need to do. Don't flatter yourself as some kind of hated christian martyr or some other I love puppies. You are a stupid kid sticking his head in the sand. There is neither heaven nor hell, only what you wish there to be.

I'm against any loss of potential. On the other hand I'm also against unnecessary suffering.

So good question!

Honestly, I'm not quite out of that conundrum. Of course in today's society it only makes sense to allow abortion. But I'm not sure that it should be allowed in my world.

meh. with abortion i think you can argue all you want but... until you've got a leech growing inside of you, making your life difficult and permanently altering your body in what i think everyone agrees is a not positive way, and having to put up with it because other people think it's THEIR choice... i really dont think you can judge.

then comes the fact that we cant even take care of the people already in existence... i would gladly sacrifice the life of something without consciousness to better the life of something suffering and aware of how BBQ its situation is.

and uh, didnt abortions become legal to begin with because chicks were shoving pointy objects up their cunts to self-abort anyway?

*renames topic "abortion"*

Thats pretty much correct grawrg, one major motivating factor towards legalization of abortion was the danger of getting a back-alley/home-made one.

And as for the concept of personal responsibility, this is also why I support most drug decriminalization, assisted suicide, birth control practices, so on and so forth. While it is fine and dandy to moralize, the fact is moralizing does squat. If I want to get high on something as a legal adult, so long as it only, singularly, fucks me up and no one else, that should be my right. Not that I want to ofc. Same goes for suicide in times of extreme suffering. I really don't hold many strong convictions about abortion, being a man I feel it really isn't primarily my decision in a relationship, but I support the right for one. Who can legislate what happens to your own body?

im not gonna lie. if i somehow got pregnant right now (rape can come into this too... only WBCesque people would deny a rape victim an abortion... what then? i mean. you might say "well, exceptions for rape" ... plenty of rape cases are never solved so. yeah.) if i somehow got pregnant right now, and i was forced to carry this leech i dont even want to full term. leaving me fat, with stretch marks... probably with a nice belly scar considering my family's tendencies, oh yeah... and some serious self esteem issues as a result of the shitty state of my appearance and the fact that i have no control over my own life/body. i would be extremely spiteful. i dont doubt that i would come up with some creative ways of terrorizing christians. in the worst sense of the word (terrorizing that is... not christians).

mhm It depends on the situation too. I know of this chick who got pregnant and actually carried to term, she was like 16 at the time. However in this situation she came from an extremely supportive, fairly well do to family (I do think the father ditched her though).

for sure. theres this chick in the program im in atm who has a baby. she's got a 102 in chem atm. i think she's taken more math classes than anyone i know (in the area. i realize other states arent as stupid as ours)? i mean, regardless of the facts of her life, im impressed but. when you're smart, you've got a supportive family, and your family is well-off financially... you can make BBQ like that work. it's a different situation when there's a pregnant 16 year old who's parents are drunks and they all live in a single wide. you cant take care of a kid when you arent even cared for yourself.

i only just noticed that my post times are like, an hour off o.o

but yeah. apparently this chick was having contractions every 5 minutes while she was doing her math test. i think that might be crossing a line into mental. she also has a chemistry ... journal? scrapbook? notebook? it looks to me like the chemistry scrapbook of an OCD person. it's all neat a color coordinated and stuff.

for chemistry.

but whatevs.

Yea I know a few girls who would probably do stuff like that. One of them has a color coded everything, agenda, bio notebook. physics and chem books (shes taking chem and physics at the same time), and like 3 other AP classes. She also is a swimmer, so no life for her :o

chem and physics at the same time? god forbid, lol.

her BBQ isn't color coded. she just has that one neat freaky journal documentation thing. where a normal student would have a sloppy lab notebook.

Lol well yea, this girl literally has color coded notes. like, purple is equations, green is lectured stuff, orange is HW, all kinds of stuff like that. And its across the board like that, same system for most of her notes in different classes.

that sounds... like it would be more hurtful than helpful. that would be the I love you man! i want to murder when we're taking notes cause she's slowing the class down. luckily college professors appear to have brains, and just email the slides instead of waiting for dumb fucks to try to neatly write everything word for word.

I worded that kinda badly, Of course thats why, but I meant to say if you have sex, expect a baby - if you like the pleasure, be fair and deal with the pain of childbirth and dont kill another human because it makes you uncomfortable.

not all sex is consensual junior.

and im totally confused. madace pointed out that babies arent leeches because he disapproved of me calling babies leeches. and then junior quotes that and says "nope, you're right. why have sex if you dont expect a baby?"

There are certain tools commonly used which can prevent pregnancy, such as condoms and IUDs and birth control pills. Ironically enough, your popes often condemn these things as being evil and blah blah blah and discredits their usage. This leads to the spread of STDs (even among the innocent who are raped), teenage pregnancy (which can commonly lead to individuals who "fail" in society), and even more ironic, more abortions!

And it isn't NEARLY as simple as you are trying to make it JR. While I agree its a dickish move to have sex without any birth control and then abort your baby because you are doubly irresponsible, it simply is MORE dickish to raise a kid when the very birth of that child will very probably lead to a failed future for both yourself, your loved ones/partner, and your child itself. Especially considering you had the option to prevent that future before the fetus could survive on its own, have a single conscious thought, or any sentience whatsoever.

Plus in banning/limiting abortions you also limit the instances in which the child can be aborted in cases of rape/incest, or when the pregnancy is physiologically dangerous to the mother.

In any case it is not our place to regulate what a different person can do with his/her own body in any instance.
