Where exactly would the difficulty lie? in picking the right person? Or just because all people are corruptable?

The difficulty is that people, as well as very large groups are pretty darn stupid. This is bad because the world is very complex and needs to be approached objectively and efficiently.

Therefore a system should be designed that accounts for all these flaws and counteracts them.


Oh, and if we'll ever face a crisis that would shake us collectively out of our comfort zone in the short term, we'd unite.

You see it in real life. People rebelling god, and people worshiping god, in a never ending battle. You see people rebelling other peoples god aswell. These people will never accept a one world government.

Sure they will.

It's just a matter of scale. In a sense we already have a world "government" but there are enough internal divisions to convince us otherwise.
