[IDEA] Holdings merged with Galaxy map
Well I don't think I'm exactly saying to get rid of holdings but what would be sweet is if you had different kinds of galaxy maps. You've got your basic galaxy map now with flags etc. but you should be able to switch to a galaxy map that shows you the systems you have colonies in with a number stating how many colonies and heck a percentage of the colonisable planets you own in that system. Another galaxy map that has a percentage number next to each system you have planets in showing you the highest polluted planet in that sector.
I think this could be added to say include activity on your planets in systems to show you whether you need to take a visit and bulk up defences.
Gives Starport a more "empirish" feel to it and would help HEAPS. (mainly the pollution one, hate forgettin some system and havin all the planets explode on me)

AMEN, it would be much easier to have a tab on the Galaxy map that would allow you to open a map that would display number of colonies owned in the map instead of as a description for each system. This would be a lifesaver vs. clicking around in the galaxy map searching for a nearby col while your enemy brings his buddies to keep you pinned in the port you're stuck in. And it would of course be useful for other things. Good idea.

First I'd like to apologize for my double post here, just wanted to attach a copy of an email I just sent to Sinistrad.
I feel I gave those who have been working on this idea sufficient credit, and just wanted to submit this idea directly to the DEVs and supply a visual example. My intention is not to step on anyone's feet here.Mutant, .seth, I and others have been excercising ideas to improve the holdings list and improve flagging of colonies as well, and I have managed to compile a screenshot to demonstrate the Idea of a mini holdings list in the Galaxy map.
This would speed up flagging systems as...
1) you would no longer have to switch between screens each time.
2) you wouldn't have to try and remember where you were in the list and scroll back down from the top to select the next colony.
3) With one click see if you have already flagged a a system.
Other use(s)
1) Locate a colony in the map without having to go to holdings screen first
2) Undecided
I think this would streamline the game a little and make some of the colony management aspects of the game a little less tedious.
I kind of thought what he meant didnt include that list of planets right beside it cause that would cause game to crash
I Kind of thought it was like a galaxy map with tabs on the top
kind of like this
|Flag| |Personal| |Corp| |Percentage owned|
the flag would be like normal but when u click on pesonal instead of a flag there would be a number saying how many personal planets u own similar with corp but with corp planets and percentage owned would have a number like 100%, 15% above a system like a flag telling how much of the colonizable system is owned by u or ur corp

because its ONE system the load time would be instantaneous. because its interlinked with galaxy map the search time would be nearly so. just click on any system, click the holdings tab (by the port, notes, etc tabs) and get a holdings view of that particular system.Manganator wrote:As long as it doesn't create the same lag I get when I open holdings.
the official vote thread had 98 votes to implement and 3 against. get toonces onto this idea or i will just re-necro it again every 3 years until he does.
Possibly as an addition or simplified version would be to separate the information related to colonies in systems.
Right now when you click a system it tells you Personal and Corporate colonies... The problem with this is that Corp Cols also includes Contracted Corps.
This should/could be tweaked to have 3 lines, Personal, Corporate and Contracted Colonies. This would make things instantly easier I think.

that idea had its own thread evo, dig it up and bump it. in it we came to the conclusion that it would take 4 lines. truly personal colonies (like the ones you have uncorped), personal colonies that are currently shared, corporate colonies (not counting ones you own), and contractor colonies.
we also determined that contractor planets need their own color so we dont accidently check them constantly. an empty/hostile planet should look different than a contractor one, i mean how simple to understand is that?
back to the idea of this thread though. click on a system, click the new holdings tab, the galaxy map frame stays up but the map image is replaced with a holdings readout from that system ONLY. this makes holdings usable again with no lag or sorting.
