Dave, you posted an idea in the wrong forum. AND that wrong forum just so happens to be the least active forum on the entire forums overall. ROFL.
Idea sounds fine. It should be a mod that costs a lot of money(1mil), that way people can't just run from sol and do it over and over and over and over and over and over again.
Also it should not be allowed to be purchased in Blitz.
All ships except the pod could buy it.
Please have it like 5000 core damage with splash damage that dishes out the farther you are. The explosion should be twice as big as a flak cannon explosion.

self destruct would be cool if it did half damage as whatever shields you currently have.
in other more thought out yet less sensible wording:
if you have 1000 shields. you do 500 damage.
i refuse to think this through and insist its a bad idea that will probably be in the next patch.

I think that this is a good idea i would use this for fun and try to kill a newb with it haha that would be fun.

While this is somewhat of a good idea. you forgot to put up a poll for a vote. There are many players that will take the time to vote but not post a comment. But I'd give it a yes vote just to see how many newbs are desperate enough to use it.

And to make it more balanced, it will affect corpies and contractors so you cant have someone tractoring someone and have a corpie come and self destruct and kill him with what ever shields are left.
Self destruct should be tested on blitz if it is ever going to be implemented. That way no one will really get butt hurt from getting killed by suicide bombers.

how about damage is augmented by what hardware your holding. a ship that blows itself up holding 8 nukes should in theory do more damage then one that blows itself up with 0 nukes.
more nukes (doesnt just have to be nukes btw) = more damage and larger blast radius.

i dont want some random newb getting paid to come self destruct next to my IGS.
while we're talking about new weaponish ideas, someone mentioned a "weapon" that i guess wouldnt be a weapon.. that would allow you to warp somewhere in space. could you warp to an exact location or should it be random? how often could the weapon be used? could this idea be ok at all?

- breaks exp changing in rebangs affecting medals and tokens
- hiring mass army of noobs to self destruct in a isc with 8 shield mods
- no description on time to fire
- no information on radius
- and did i mention the exp not changing to the killer
MAYBE acceptable if the exp loss goes to the last person to score a hit.

This is indeed exactly what the Corbomite idea is covering. The only reason Corbomite doesn't exist is just because I never got around to it. It has been on "the list" for over 5 years. The list has over 1,000 items on it.
With Corbomite, it goes off only after you die, so you will always have 0 shields. The size and damage of the blast is determined by how much corbomite is equipped on the ship. Corbomite is stored in cargo holds. So the strength of the blast is according to how many holds of corbomite the ship is carrying when it is killed.

When Corbomite comes out, I would totally get a dream sower and get 450 of it...clear an entire system. XD I only wish we could buy cargo holds on blitz, THEN NOBODY WOULD HIT ME!!! >:D
