Landing Zones
Well, here is an idea. More landing zones. Before you laugh, let me explane. 90% or better of the players are used to the maps as they are. Where the LZ is, where to put the dome, how to defend and the best way to invade. Now what if, each map had a second or even third (for larger maps) possible spot of a LZ. Still only one per col, but in a deferent spot. Invaders/Builders would have a whole new world (not really new per say) to develop strategies on. It would be like doubling the number of maps to play on. This would be fairly easy to put into place also. After a col dies off, then the new or old LZ would randomly pick which to place on the new col.

i vote yes
Re: Landing Zones
This is actually really cool, i vote yes also.
Re: Landing Zones
yeahhh this is a really nice idea. i assume that only one lz is active at a time? (otherwise the defence would suck)
Re: Landing Zones
yeah thats the impression im under
Re: Landing Zones
I'd be down with that. I think that new lay-outs could really incorporate this well in the future too.

I've always thought there should be so many that it's impossible to learn them all, but that's my opinion.MastrIan wrote:We just got 40 new layouts, are you bored already?
I'm just saying that most of the current layouts wouldn't do too well with multiple LZs. The whole map is designed around the 1 LZ.

I vote no.
I have visions of seeing warpholes in walls and tons of dead/unbuilt colonies around the galaxy...

Re: Landing Zones
I think he means toonces will pre-select landing zones and the game will randomly pick from those pre-selected areas
Re: Landing Zones
If implemented properly, this sounds like a fantastic idea.
Re: Landing Zones
That's feasible actually... I remember turkey made a program that randomly generated them in the format toonces needed for the game. But I don't think he'd go for overhauling the system.. and random generation would tend to make cols bland and featureless.Barefoot wrote:I've always thought there should be so many that it's impossible to learn them all, but that's my opinion.MastrIan wrote:We just got 40 new layouts, are you bored already?

Re: Landing Zones
This was what i meant. Not a randomly picked spot by the game. But rather randomly picked from a pre-selected possibilty of LZ's. Or if Toonces was to do this he could even let players suggest where they'd like to see the LZ's at. But there are still 3 over all things that must happen first.pewpewpew wrote:I think he means toonces will pre-select landing zones and the game will randomly pick from those pre-selected areas
1. Players must give a good feedback to the idea. (So far, so good. Thank you all)
2. Toonces has to read this post. (and hopefully give a small response)
3. Toonces must decide if the effort to program the new LZ's is worth the effort for players to enjoy it. (Edit existing (copy and paste) VS More new maps (Hair pulling))
