War Server (Finally came up the time to write it)

My idea is a war server. The war server would be GAME CHANGING. This server would be so different that you may think it is a different game(a sequel?). This would either be a server or as I said just now, a sequel. I am leaning towards the sequel. Okay, I will divide it into sections speaking about each thing. I suggest you read the whole thing before making any decisions about if it is good or bad, the story may seem retarded if you don't read the whole thing. It is divided into sections for easy reading.

Story:
It is 3,000 years in the future. The pirate's retreated 1,200 years ago into a different galaxy and have come back to take over the galaxy, they own 1/4(or 1/2 in 1vs1) of the galaxy. The U.N. Currently owns 1/4(or 1/2 in 1vs1) of the galaxy. The Intergalactics' race has come back, and have taken 1/4(or 1/2 in 1vs1) of the galaxy as their own. And finally, a new species has sprouted along with the IGrace. This race is obviously a hive mind. Our top scientists believe that this race forced the IGrace out of the galaxy and they continue their ongoing war that has lasted for many millenia here once again.

After these thousands of years, all the races have made larger and more powerful capital ships. Once, the strongest ships were the Imperial Starcruiser, the Sethdar Cruiser, and the Intergalactics' Ship. Now, those ships are small in comparison to the "Imperial Destroyer", "The Sethdar Obliterator", the "Intergalactics' flagship", or the "Hive Mind".

Now, each faction must face the others in all out war, or be eliminated by their enemies. There may only be ONE victor...

Rewards For winners:
Every person in the winning side(other than the "faction leader", commanders and lieutenants{more on the subject in following sections}) get a small Pin saying "first place" or something of the sort. The lieutenants get a small bronze badge saying "Good leader". Commanders get a silver badge saying: "Great leader". And the "faction leader" gets a gold trophy saying: "Ultimate leader". Also, every winning lieutenant gets 1 tourney point. Every winning commander gets 2 tourney points. And every winning "faction leader" gets 5 tourney points. For second place. Every person on the team gets a small pin saying: "second place" or something of the sort. There are no third or fourth place prizes.

# of people per side:
The number of people per side will be either 250 or 500(250 for free for all with 4 factions, 500 for free for all with 2 factions) When you join a game, you would be given a choice of which side you wish to join, if you join, you cannot leave unless you go inactive(if you go inactive for 1 week, you are deleted and cannot join server for 2 weeks). When you make a character on the server, you will be given the choice of you stat choice, you profile, AND which faction you will join, there will be no neutral zone. Each faction(a giant corp you cannot leave) will have a "corporate bank". This bank will have a max of 1 billion credits, only accessible at a star base owned by you(more on the subject in later sections).

For each faction, there will be ONE "faction leader". He/she will be chosen by democratic vote on the forums. You cannot be chosen for faction leader on the same galaxy twice(it re bangs after one person wins-more on winning later). There ARE exceptions, if there is no one who wishes to become "faction leader" other than a person(or two) who have already been faction leader, you may be on the ballot. Commanders and Lieutenants will be chosen by the "faction leader" OR by democratic vote(PEOPLE, you decide).

Each person will start with ONE unbuilt colony(if deleted, your colony dies). They will also start with 5million credits on hand and 5000 fuel. So that each faction has time to prepare for war, the first week to two weeks from bang, the factions will not be able to cross a special "superwarp"(more in later sections) into each others' territories.

Commanding Positions goodies^^:
"faction leader":The faction leader will have a large amount of power. The faction leader will be able to carry 250 million credits on hand and will have a ship only THEY will be able to use(more in later sections)(cannot land on planets with this ship). They will have nearly full responsibility for anything that happens. The "faction leaders" will have a "direct report" button to send an email in game to toonces' email about saboteurs. If some sabotages another faction's cols, they may be banned from war servers forever.

Commander:1% of the total people in a faction can be commanders(in a ffa 4 faction, there would be 3. in a ffa 2 faction, there would be 5). The commanders would have a special ship that would not be quite as powerful as the "faction leader"'s, but would still be able to turn the tide of a battle(cannot land on planets with this ship). The commanders would be able to carry 150 million credits on hand.

lieutenant:There would be 10 lieutenants in each faction in a 1vs1 game, and 5 lieutenants in a ffa 4 way. Lieutenants would be able to hold 100mil credits on hand(like normal). They would be able to use a special ship that would be slightly stronger than the normal person's ship(They CAN land on planets with this ship).

Territory and "superwarp"s:
Each war server galaxy would be comprised of 2100 systems(max). Each faction would control 1/2 or 1/4(depending on how many factions, I think you understand by now...) of the galaxy. The maps would be very weird, so I will make a section for 1vs1 faction games and for ffa games with 4 people.

1vs1 faction game maps:In a 1vs1 game, the map would be two GIANT clusters on opposite ends of each other, they would be held together by ONE warp portal. A "superwarp" would hold them together. The "superwarp" would be closed for the first week to two weeks as each side prepares. After the first 1-2 weeks, the "superwarp" would open and it would cost 100 warp fuel to cross the divide. This would be a large strain on your fuel supply if every time you cross you waste so much. Thus, you must get a foothold on the opposite side's territory. There would be no U.N. Starbases(not ports) would let you teleport between them, in this type of fight, there would be 4 starbases for each side, each invadable(more on subject in later sections). Each faction would have 200 starports(randomly placed)

ffa 4 way game maps:In a ffa 4 way game, the map would be 4 GIANT cluster, each on a corner. They would be connected to two other clusters by ONE "superwarp" each. The cluster opposite a faction cannot be attacked by that faction. Each cluster would have 550 systems. Each faction would start with 2 starbases(randomly placed between 8 and 10 hops from superwarp, each covering a superwarp) and 100 starports(randomly placed).

Starbases and Starports:

Starports:Starports would have a whole new meaning in this war server, the starports would be owned by the faction they are in territory in until they are invaded(yes, the can be invaded^^). Each faction would start with 100 starports which are randomly placed. These starports would be the lifeblood of your colonies and your empire, without starports, you cannot get shields or cargo bays(starbases can be invaded too). The starports would have (always) 10 shot solars and would shoot at 10/120 at all times. They start with 120-125(which is it?) lasers and the lasers can only be taken off by the "faction leader". Starports would still have all of the things that they have now, however taxis would give you half the money of normal servers, artis would be in more abundance, ports would let you stay within for 500 credits per hour(no matter your rep), the prices would be half for resources, shields, and cargo holds, and it would only allow the owners of the starports to land/use(if you are in faction, you are owner).

Starbases:Starbases would be THE most important part of your factions capital. They would act as teleporters, would be your One-stop hardware shop, and would be where you get your ships from, if you lose both starbases, you cannot buy ships anymore, every time you die, you go back to your capital and buy from the SMALL selection there(the "faction leader"'s ship, merchant ship, and flower). If you lose your starbase, you will find that you will probably lose very soon(loss will be explained in later sections). Starbases will sell everything at half price and will not admit anyone that is not in it's faction. The starbases would be invadable. However, they would be the single most difficult thing to invade there is. They would have 25/300 solars and would have 500 lasers on planet(would start with it but would not be able to be taken off by anyone but the "faction leader"(if you didn't notice, is also CEO).

Faction Strengths:

U.N.:The United Nations ships ALL get a +1000 max shields and attack strength +10%.

Pirates:The Pirates' ships ALL get a +25% energy regeneration capacity.

Intergalactics' Race:The IGRace's ships ALL get a +15% speed and a +10% acceleration.

Hive Mind:The Hive Mind's ships ALL get a +5% range, +5% energy regeneration, +5% speed, +5% acceleration, and +5% strength.

Faction Specialty ships:

U.N.:The United Nations has the Imperial Starcruiser open to all people in the u.n.. The U.N. also has the "Imperial Destroyer"(ship stats in later post). The U.N. also has the U.N. clubber, this ship is only open to the commanders(ship stats in later post). The U.N. also has the U.N. defender(ship stats in later post).

Pirates:The pirate's have the Sethdar crusier open to all pilots. They also have the Sethdar Oblitorator. They also have the Pirate Speedbrawler and the Pirate ShroudCruiser(all 3 ships' stats in later post)

IGrace:The Intergalactics' Race has the Intergalactics' Ship open to all pilots in this faction(Admirals' club does not sell ships in this server, fuel and stuff still buyable). The IGrace also has the Intergalactics' Flagship, the Intergalactics' Shield Ship, and the Intergalactics' StarCruiser(All three ships' stats in later post).

Hive Mind:The Hive Mind has the Hive ship open to all pilots in this faction. It also has the Hive Mind, the Super-Hive Ship, and the Hive Turretship.

Faction Special Hardware:

U.N.:The U.N. has all the stuff we currentlly have. That and Mini solars(only in space and they are one shot solars, only 10 max in system).

Pirates:The Pirates have EMP mines instead of normal mines and also have mini solars.(EMP mines do no damage but EMP you.

IGRace:The IGrace has mine shooters instead of flaks. The mine shooters shoot normal mines at you which explode once they hit something, they do not have a set range(other than the wall :roll:) Also have mini solars

Hive Mind:The Hive Mind has Hive controllers which add a 3% damage to all weaponry in the area (area of 6 places to each side)and stack... (no c-mines however). Mini solars.
cont:
NPCs

They are controllable, each faction has 300 npcs that are blue and can be controlled with /npc attack/defend/go personname/systemname/systemlocation. The "faction leader" has a screen in faction capital that tells them where they all are...

Contractors

There are none.

Old ships

They are still there.

Tiny worlds and Gas Giants:

Tiny Worlds:Tiny worlds would have radar stations made to help "faction leader"s see who is in each system and to tell anyone in the corp when an enemy enters a system. The tiny worlds would have a max solar of 5/60 and 90 lasers. These planets would be essential to coordinating npcs and people in the war.

Gas Giants:Gas Giants would feature shield generators. The shield generators would be able to defend ONE planet from attack. When invaded, the shield would be turned off and the invader would be able to choose which planet to shield. The shield would be cross able by the owner(or owner's corp).

Command Screen:

The command screen would be used by "faction leaders", commanders, and lieutenants. The command screen would show the following things about every system that has a corporate "radar station".

*Who is in each system. this includes allies, enemies, and npc's.
*What planets are owned in each system and by who.
*Total # of each type of weapon stockpiled in each system
*Total # of weapons deployed on each planet
*Total # of weapons deployed in system
*Solar count for each planet.

The command screen would be only accessible by those three types of people and only at the Faction HQ. The command screen would look similar to the galaxy map. However, it would show ALOT more information.

Faction HQ:

The Faction HQ would be a hugely important part of the faction. It would have many functions.

*Have the command screen for leaders.
*Sell shields, cargo holds, and 3 types of ships:
-Merchant ship
-"faction leaders"'s ship
-Flower
*Npcs would respawn 12 hours after dieing outside of here.
*Corp bank would be accessible here.

The faction HQ would be invadable, but would have a 20/240 solar(DD) and Max lasers of 240.

How to lose:

A faction would lose if every single planet, starbase, and starport were invaded. If so, then every character in that faction would be deleted and given their medals(if deserved). When only one faction survives, then the server would end and rebang 2 weeks later.

Changes of how fast things are built, etc.

Construction:+200% or x3
research:-50% or 1/2
weapons:+200% or x3
harvesting:+200% or x3. Solar uses 75 resources now, people eat 3 times as much.
Morale:Same
population growth:+100% or x2

Looks very complex, To be honest, I read through most of the first and second and third posts.

Idk if toonces will agree on this though :P It seems like a lot of programming, like say... 100 000 000 lines of code in ASM?
But i doubt he uses asm.

If you ask me, alot of the stuff is already there. I will go step by step:

-Control of NPC:
*They would use the current escortee auto pilot(/warping if they are blocked).
*The command system would only work in system for /attack or /defend.
*To tell a certain npc where to go you would go /npc 1 go (123,456)
*The command center would tell you where they are if you are a commander so you can tell them to attack or defend someone (if they are in the same system as the npc) or to go somewhere.
-"faction leaders":
*This might take some programming but the ability to have a ship no one else can have is already there(CEO ship).
-commanders:
*Toonces would need to implement some sort of rank system in corps(for this server).
-lieutenants:
*Diddo.
-Control Screen:
*The galaxy map is already a basic control screen, he would merely have to beef it up some.
-Starports:
*He would have to create new layouts for ports only(background anyway)
*change programming slightly to lower prices on everything.
-Starbases:
*He would have to find a way to lower laser-lag and solar lag.
*Create new layouts(you would need a HUGE layout so that the lasers would not be bunched up as much, thus you can lower lag a bit. Also, the solar would not be so close to the entrance to lag you up at the start.
*Create new background (metallic... with flashing colors like a giant dock at the beginning)
*Make it able to teleport you to another of YOUR starbases.
-HQ:
*Layout would have to be made.
*DD thing is already there.
*Lower laser lag a bit.
*sola lag is NOT impossible
*Create new background
-Superwarps:
*I am SURE he can do this. He only has to program a new type of warp.(he did it once)
-Territories:
*The first week thing might be hard to implement, other than that, don't think anything is that hard.
-The thing about a lot of people might cause lag. That is why I think that instead of a total of 1000 people in the galaxy(yes a max people, that is why people get deleted after only 1 week), only 500. Thus, 250 on each side if a 1vs1 and 125 on each side for ffa 4 way.

-tinies and gas giants:

I like the general thought of it, woudn't get your hopes up too much though, sounds like a bigger change than starport has ever seen. (Well, except permaverses perhaps)

then maybe you could build starports like I've suggested and use invisible lasers on your party's side as I've also suggested.

Also, we need story events like:
-reinforcements
-invasions
-ambush
-disabled ships( rescue, resupply, recover)
-temporary rift in the galactic matrix (new temporary joining warp portal)
-the tooncenator
-seige
-breakthrough seige

As i have said in my starport post, theres a limit and lasers only invisible for the owners if they want em to be.

You obviously put a lot of thought into this. Curious why you didn't put more thought into the fact that this won't ever be implemented. Not that its a bad idea, or even that Toonces is too lazy or w/e to program it, but it would be a whole new game.

If you really wanna pursue this idea you would have better luck adding more things and making fundamental changes to make it even more its own game and trying to pitch it to someone who actually might make it.

Good luck with that if you decide to try, sounds like it has great potential.
