Starport worked fine until the last patch, loads the game and goes to log in. Click log in and the client crashes.

Did a clean install, still does not work.

SGE patched to 900 and works fine on my laptop, I was playing the game on desktop when patch 900 came out. Closed SGE, it patched then it crashes after logging in.

Changed around resolution as I had a issue with this once before, still crashes.

It crashes when you press "Login" on the screen where you enter your username and password, never showing the list of available galaxies?

There's been a new patch. Please try logging in again and let me know if it still crashes.

That is what was happening to me, the Intel CPU and ATI laptop worked fine, the desktop with AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU was the problem. Seems like a incompatibility with the brands that caused it.

Make sure you are not running Starport. Close it and exit. Restart your computer (turn the power off, then boot it up again).

Uninstall Starport by going to your control panel and choosing "Remove programs", then select starport and uninstall that.

Next direct your browser to the official download at http://www.starportgame.com/download.php and download the install file.

Then run the install file to install the game, then run the game.

Let me know what happens. Thanks.

After uninstalling AND deleting all the misc files left over, I restarted the CPU, reinstalled and..... Bingo! It worked! Thank you both!

you don't need to delete any files manually, un-installing is enough. You just needed to re-install after the patch was released that fixed your problem. The reason the install failed the first time you tried to do it is because the Starport application was open and running on your machine when you tried to install, which will cause the install to fail.
