Interest in a 4 week starport coaching program

Post by Mathius » Fri Jan 22, 2010 9:15 am

If you are interested in learning starport skills faster put your name down here and there may be a 4 week coaching program coming to starport.

the basics are :-

You would get taught by a vet player that can answer alot of those tricky questions you have and even team invade/fight/build with you to help you get a good start to the game.

it would run for about 4 weeks

it would cost you some tokens

you would prob enjoy the game a lot more.

anyways just for now put your name down by replying to the post and ill be in touch.

for vets reading this interested in being the coach refer to the research lab for a better description.

I'd be happy to be a coach. Just set me up with a newbie to teach and I'd happily teach the tricks.

Don't make it for paying yet... First, just make it a 4 week program for free. After 4 weeks, make it payable (one newbie taught by each volunteer for free).

Start with reading the building n fighting guides on these forums
Experiment with various building layouts...always have your solar at 10 shots as soon as possible...practice fighting skills with npcs

As long as Mel'Kaven isn't my mentor you can throw my name down on this list.
if we are doing a 4 week program we should sort a schedule a time to be on everyday or certain days at a certain time
i can invade, i want fighting help and building help, maybe some different invading techniques but im going for a couple of medals these days.

Lol - Who is actually going to teach someone for 4 weeks without getting tired of their bitching and invading them?

This applies to both the mentors and the mentees.

I'd be willing to coach the newbies

I could specifically coach newbies on rebangs. Just pm me online if you see me or reply to this post. I can coach up to 2 newbies at a time.

It would be a 2 week coaching period on a rebang, such as The New Explorers or Pirates Heyday. I would corp with any newbie that wants to learn. I would start by teaching them to the basics such as ship maneuver, combat with npcs, taxiing, escorting.

Once they understood that i would move to stage 2: Trading, Basics of building, defending planets, and ship choices for certain tasks.

Stage 3: Advance building tactics (planet layouts, dome placement, planet types, solar cannon settings and final colony settings such as cash cows or people factories), fighting players (could teach them via duels), invading, and player stat settings (rebang setups and perma setups).

If they pass all 3 stages i could sign them off to try off their newly learned skills by "testing them", in which case the player and I would corp together on a new rebang and play it all the way through, and i could give them last minute tips and evaluate them through the process. If he gets a medal, or if I feel that he did a good job, i would pass him. This would unofficially take away his newbie status.

Hey all you newbies if you are interested in this program just send me a message on the forums (mcdfatty) or online if you see me (zed55).

I'm thinking about starting a online StarPort University.......anyone want in?

My job will be the official shitt-talker and all around pain in the asss.

I nominate cloud1 as the official nuke sponge

Bardock/Kasonia/Pj as fighting instructors.

Anyone interested in other positions feel free to add to the list.

Consider yourself hired Mel :) Now assume the position...............

But this would be a good idea......maybe toonces could make a beginners server with a very small map, pre-built colonies and a determined amount of vets to train newbies. Something that runs for like 1-2 hours a day like the old blitz. I'd be happy to show some new people how to play the game. Let them have like 10 million starting cash and a free IG ship to play around with for the length of the server or even 10-15 minutes so they would be inclined to buy one in a real perma...would help token sales but have no pk's allowed so it doesnt turn into a fighting server for regular players. Also let them have a pick of arti's so they will better understand how they work. Have a arit spawn every 5 hops or so to give them something to do.
