Allowed to play starport on 2 separate comps

Post by gamanche » Wed Mar 25, 2009 3:26 pm

I currently play starport on my laptop, my brother wants to play the game as well, he is in the same household, is he allowed to play it from his computer?
its not multi-accounting in anyways though? is it?
i don't want him to download starport in case I'm not allowed to do so

I remember "back in the day" him and i both played, from 2 separate comps and we didn't get banned or anything

so I'm wondering now if the rules have changed or anything,

help would be appreciated

You can play on the same computer as long as it's two different people.

The rule is one character per person on a galaxy.

The banning system looks at things like keyboard strokes, mouse movements, and play style, to generate a "fingerprint" that is unique to that player. If the same fingerprint is observed in two characters, the ban system is alerted.

of course, why not?

does the rule say anything about computers or houses?

No, the rule says don't be one human using more than one character in the same galaxy.

No, key strokes would be different. For example, very few people can type at 80 WPM. Something I do with ease.

110 max. pwn all yall. and I attribute it almost entirely to starport, although I think I'm down to about 80-90 right now on my laptop, I haven't quite got used to the small differences in keyboards yet.

I have to say though toonces, this whole key recognition thing sounds very interesting I didn't realize that you had anything quite that complex.

[bows to Toonces] This is awesome. I'm so glad to see this issue finally settled...I think I'm going to cry.

I request that this post be attached to the rule sticky and enshrined for all time.

In order to help curb multi-ing, 2 characters can't be created from the same computer on the same server. For two people to play on the same computer, I believe one of the characters has to be created from a different one.

wow thats really smart to find out the fingerprint thing

onto another subject, i remember i slept over my cousin's house and we played starport, there were 2 computer's in the house so he thought maybe we could verse each other and stuff, i said no because i thought it would of counted as "multi'ing" i remember the rule was 1 character per galaxy or something so we both played on a different galaxy. i just want to know if we versed each other on the same galaxy would he have been banned
NOTE: my cousin plays starport on both computers, like sometimes he might play on his computer in his room and sometimes he plays the one in the lounge room so he can watch tv at the same time.
