Abandoned Dome Defenses, Ideas?
What should happen to the cannons and mines on a planet when the biodome becomes abandoned?

The traditional behavior has been for all cannons to be erased and mines left, so that might still be good. But they could stay there but never fire, or still fire at 0 military, or slowly disappear. May not matter too much but open to ideas if any one's got any.

If you can make them die slowly, that would be tits... Not just those but all of them. This way inactive players couldent just sitting at the top of the ranks off something they built last year. The wf would be more vital for repairs and such.

I'd think that 1 defense disappear per day on a dead col would make sense. But i would suggest a very low rate of fire. Or... make them free to pick up for who ever finds them. Kinda like finding a dollar on the street. But still use the slow disappear method with it.

Let the defenses be picked up by anyone passing by
I see no point in them being active if the dome died. Let them be free for the taking. Also domes should die faster when abandoned. Should take 3 days after removal of buildings and colonists.

"Why" is because sometimes it takes up to two weeks for the dome to disappear after it dies. There seems to be no specific time frame for this to happen. You can check the dead dome daily and nothing happens for a week or more. The next one that dies you can repeat the process and find the dome disappeared before one week. It's annoying when people burn colonies and the dead domes stay for a long period and it prevents anyone from re-doming those available planets. If someone wants to be super annoying they place dozens of horridly placed dome on decent layouts in your area. You then have to kill those colonies, wait for the domes to die, and it can prevent you from building effectively.

How is this supposed to make sense, Dead Dome = No Colonists.
No Colonists = No Military to fire cannon or lasers. Goes against the rules of the game
This is a non issue and will not help the game in anyway whatsoever, if anything reduce the time it takes for the dead dome to clear so the planet can be rebuilt.
Why not give the option to the colony owner to resurrect the dead dome with tokens. Win Win for everyone involved

Luna, dead domes disappear exactly 1 week from after they die. I agree 3 days is a more reasonable time frame though.

I will drop a deuce on any of these silly proposals that will do nothing but aggravate whats left of the SGE community. Anything proposed will do zero to make this game better. Charge tokens to bring back dead domes and Toonces wins in token sales, at this point tokens are the most under utilized aspect of this game.
The more tokens bought means Toonce is more likely to make changes that the majority of the old players that just want the old days back, not fail attempt after fail attempt to appease the older players. Do it right or don't bother doing it, all it cause is more players quitting out of frustration. One server made correctly will go a long way to getting the players sitting back in the shadows waiting for Toonce to do the right thing. One server out of all the others is not that much to ask.

How does this aggravate anything? It's about as marginal as a patch could be.

Because this patch has no relevance to anything in the game and again if a colony has no people via a dead dome then no defenses should be firing. It's always been that if you drop a dome on a dead planet the mines become the new owners. If the guns and solar stays then this can be abused during rebangs.

Defended colonies very rarely die on rebangs, I don't see any exploit there. If someone got defenses that way it would just be a good find.
And the thing you replied to was Luna's idea to cut the time a dead dome takes to disappear from 7 days to 3. I don't see any problem with that idea.

How about defenses stay but are offlined due to lack of power from biodome, that way if you find an abandoned planet you could merely dome it and the defenses would become your own.

I still say that if Toonce added a feature that allowed a player that had a colony die to get it back via a token bought feature it's good for everyone. I also would like to see disasters on colonies be able to be erased again from a token feature. Only mines remained when a dome died and was finally removed making the colony able to be domed. Lasers never stayed.
And again, some real changes need to be added to the admirals club, it will only help to promote token sales, it has to be done right thou. It can't have things added just to let large empires maintain their colonies without doing the legwork. Think of it as a way to encourage new players to buy an advantage to save the tedious time of things. We all know it's tough to start out in this game and stay playing.
A game like BF3 is a good example, you buy the game for $59.99 and if you spend another $50 you open up a new world of maps and new guns plus features. While it is not mandatory to do this it does prevent a game from becoming stale while still making the developers money on a game that is bought and payed for. people always like new features and some are not afraid to pay for them. Don't you think if you could customize the current ships we have for tokens it would be a good money maker? Again it would need to be done right as to not but the balance of power to the monster corps, just to help the new players have some variability to do the basics goals like building,fighting and invading.
I still say a builders IGS and a Regular IGS should be available thru token purchase. Throw this into the mix of custom ships via tokens and it would work good. Yes we have this on the mod servers but if a old style non-mod server was used as a template with these new features I really see the older players happy ans the new players actually sticking around for more then a week. Plus Toonces makes well need money via token purchases.
