Instant death on 14.500k shields ?

Galaxy Of Life Server.

Slid a Ocean Ring layout ( owned by T.A.Beneki ) - shields were at approximately 14,500.
hovered outside ring for a few minutes ( noticed solar shots wern't firing too far for some reason ) kept checking shields and negging out gap in ring.

Boom !! NEWSFLASH T.A.Beneki Shot down D-Tox !! i mean wtf is this ? and i end up in a pod in space LOL ( minus my IGS - 36,703 Exp and 7,253 rep ... oh and small matter of 2.4 mill cash.)

No warning of low shields and my bar clearly showed 14.5 k ish ... and i was well outside what i thought was the firing range.

please reimburse my token losses and exp, rep and cash .

anyone else had this happen ?

Sounds like the lag issue that's been going around. Did your shields drop at all before you exploded?

No, they only dropped while i slid the ring - they went down to 14,500 and i was far enough away from the ring once id slid it - my shields didn't drop once id made it through.
Figured cos the Solar and lazers wern't hitting me that was all good.

Am hoping i can be reimbursed *cough....

another weird solar-related death that happened to me was like a week ago on TOR i was taking a spiral, normal placement, 10/120, and had to /warp from the bottom. was an earth. On my screen the shots were not reaching me by about 3 inches. id already hit /warp, and was anchored, but my shields started dropping.. so eventually *POOF*

but i have also noticed what tox describes, solar is like a chode and barely goes anywhere, but you start taking invisible damage
