Is it time for new forum moderators?

Post by WeGotDeathStar » Sat May 19, 2012 12:44 am

I think we all deserve a moderator that is active in game and forums, not people that at best do it part time.

If the community wishes for a change, then suggest it to Toonces. I have no issue with a decision that includes me or removes me. I'm attempting to play on the new perm but can't seem to find posts on the game dynamics or changes that are relivant to this perm.

I can tell you from experience that there seems to be a certain number of regular posters on the forum, that have stayed fairly consistant over time. We don't have the same level of forum participation that we used to, but by the same token, we have few overall problems to handle. We don't have problems with tons of spam, or people posting porn links and images, like in the past. Mods no longer have to hover over the forum 24/7 to watch for something ugly. I don't know if this shows that the overall maturity level of the posters has grown to be more adult, or just that we don't have a strong presence of trouble makers or trolls.

In the end I will graciously step down and go back to being a regular poster if the community and Toonces wish it to be.

There a point to any of this. I mean who's more neutral than people that haven't played in eons.

If it does come to it my vote would be anyone out of:

Major.Arse
ChicoX
D-Tox

FYI Moderators on the forum have ZERO ability to ban anyone. We can only edit, move, delete threads and posts. ALL BANNING COMES DIRECTLY FROM TOONCES and he doesn't ask our opinions on in game bannable offenses. He only considers our input for things relivant to the forum.

I drop in here roughly once a week, sad reality is that apart from a few regulars the forums are pretty much dead. :(

Can't remember the last time I actually needed to use any mod tools!

I say leave the mods as they are. Luna and Moleman do a good job. But Kwijibo doesn't really have anything to do with starport anymore so.. I guess his removal could be debateable. But otherwise, I don't think I'd trust anyone else as a mod, except for Major.

Agree with Moleman also. I Haven't used the all powerful Mod Tools in months. We need new user's, not new mods.

The mod tool I use most frequently now is the "approve post" for new users. Very quiet in here. Not much happens on the forum. We should have new users automatically get a forum account when they start to play as part of the sign up process.

Couple of other mod /commands that were helpful too, but the one that gave us unlimited tokens really was the best one.
