Hi all, Merry Christmas. Whats new in SPGE these days?
I got a little time and dropped by SPGE to say Merry Christmas to old friends and foes and maybe get some game time in.
So whats the news and what is new these days with the game?

Changes since 2009(when you joined forums):
-KUKA won both champs as duel champion (2010)
-a year long server was tried, failed.
-The inside of ports/planets within a system render a color similar to the star
-graphics for starpedia ship images
-Each solar shot now costs 75 ore, damage has been increased (well not necessarily damage but the collision box for the solar shot is closer in than before so not you can get hit closer and ultimately it does more damage, but now its somewhat easier to dodge)
-Blitzkreige changes big time, now its not a 4 hour game, its more of a capture and hold, 'king of the hill' thing. People really like it, but the less players that play it, the less fun it gets.
-warp lanes now show up on galaxy map system preview, you can click to go to them
-for whatever reason (idk why you would need too) you can hold alt/shift/ctrl or something like that and click with the goto and you will go to places in a 'waypoint' system.(KINDA POINTLESS)
-One word: mods. (completely destroys balance of sge in attempt to give players ship customization. Its a good idea in theory, implemented wrong. Makes the game slow.
-You now get +3 dexterity to any character you create in an attempt to balance the game. (less dexterity is impossible)
-IGS now has 16 hardware slots, makes it extremly OP when fighting ISC or seth. Can have 16 holds and pwn, although IGS speed has been lowered 5% in an attempt to balance this aswell. (lol.)
-some players will get purple pixels around draw boxes. Some sort of debug something that accidently got into the client Im guessing.
-double domes are back, although you can only get em through the admiral club
-galactic janitor (cleans all planets) and ship custom color has been added to the admirals club. (ship custom color sorta gives you this hue of color over your ship, it can look neat sometimes.
-there are in-game server moderators now. They attempt to bring people to their servers, they have the power to muzzle.
-there are newb helpers, they get paid 2 tournies a month to teach newbies.
-tractor beam has been greatly changed, its harder to tract people.
-solar cannons have variable shot speeds, some are slow, some are fast.
-grav beam is orange....
-Seth is useless since emps lag for some reason (and cause you can just buy EMP blaster now)
-Oh yeah, ships can hold up to 3 different weapons
-You bounce off the sides of systems/planet
-You can see who died in your defenses (like it used to be) [unless they DC, then it sometimes just says "deployed defenses"]
-A more recent change: the amount of exp you loose when you die has been capped at 100k to encourage top players taking risks.
-You can buy dexterity promotions inside of the admirals club, you get extra +2 dex if you do.
-YOU CAN BUY NEGS AT PORTS (game changer)
-nukes are items of luxury now, everyone uses negs (makes invading slower and boring.)
-lasers shoot defenses in space
-lasers shoot npc's too. (laser walls stay up for a LONG time in arms now)
-asteroids, cat turds in space. They are pretty much little static brown ball lookin things that sit there in space and block the way.
-a lot of the "/emoticons" have changed what they say.
-greenhouses are still shitty
-players can color their name at the cost of like 40k per color or something like that
-people can name ships now. Theres an entire ship page on it inside of your profile.
-only 1 mutual contractor allowed per corp now.
-a lot more noobs play
-Toonce's hasn't updated his blog since July 9th, and since June 4th of the year before. (post second to most recent)
-Caff coder left sge developing squad, leaving toonces to fend for himself
-Solar cannon sound changes to a more catapult sorta thing(kinda dumb)
-SGE theme that plays in beginning is switched out by the old theme
-some new weird server (i think its to accommodate for there not being PAX anymore, but its like, when someone invades you get a disaster but you dont loose col.) [toonces called it pillage, or something.]
-Fog war has been introduced, although it is extremely shitty atm. All it does is black out the galaxy on the galaxy map until you've gone there.
-A lot of statistic changes, game basically requires mods to be fast and agile.
-d-tox won champs (PK)
-PJ won for (PAX)
-CEO lost mobility, it is slightly slower
-game is some what unbalanced in terms of excessive token buyers and non-token buying players.
-community is smaller
-Some servers got deleted:

- CW, Permaverse 5, permaverse 6, Rise of the pirates, Rise of the pirates (got rebanged and then deleted again cause it was fail), Golden age got rebanged (still popular after almost a year), Permaverse 2, permaverse 3, permaverse 4, classic home worlds, lone stars, bunch of other rebangs, newb hope, the dark future, the 11th dimension (was rebanged, people play it but its boring.), battle royale (rebanged as rebang like it used to be)
