another cool idea
hey, i think toonce should make reverse thrusting just as powerful as forward thrusting, and make holding onto shift/whatever button you use make your ship turn faster too. who agrees?
Re: another cool idea
i wanted to bash your idea because it wasnt posted in the right section, but i like it.
Re: another cool idea
Ship turning could be something to get used to, but the idea is moderate. Idk, Im so used to flying the way it already is I think it would just be weird, Y'know?
Most asteroid games do stuff similar and its a I love you man! to fly.

Re: another cool idea
bump because of how awesome this is. however i now for some reason agree with mel that it shouldnt rly effect turning.
forward and back being the same would be very awesome though.

Re: another cool idea
I agree that thrusting should be equal. You get extra cool points for sliding backwards!
Re: another cool idea
bump just because.
still think it shouldnt effect steering though.

Re: another cool idea
I remember back when only using up arrow (no thrusters) would give you the same energy regen as if you were not moving at all. I think he should change that back. Dodging solar to regain energy to nuke is more difficult and annoying, also it's difficult to regain energy in a space fight when running away or trying to nuke someone

I can make a reverse thruster module for you. Would that be ok?omlow wrote:hey, i think toonce should make reverse thrusting just as powerful as forward thrusting, and make holding onto shift/whatever button you use make your ship turn faster too. who agrees?
Re: another cool idea
it'd be good but, it wouldnt be worth sacrificing a module slot for.Toonces wrote:I can make a reverse thruster module for you. I actually don't like that. I think it gives you a cool advantage in fighting. You can use your existing momentum to glide through space and regen energy faster than the guy who's too stupid to do the same, and so you can launch nukes at a much faster rate.BarbaraWalters wrote:I remember back when only using up arrow (no thrusters) would give you the same energy regen as if you were not moving at all. I like the idea of reverse thrusters as a mod. but ONLY as a mod. I think it would be silly for the basic ship model to move as quickly backward as it does forward... that's just not how ships are designed. But if someone wants them to be that way, I think it'd be great for them to be able to mod up.
Re: another cool idea
Actually, thats how space works. There shouldn't be a top speed. As long as thrusters are being applied the ship should acccelerate. I don't know if people realize, but space is a vacuum. Even if you disengage your engines, your ship should remain at a constant velocity because there is no friction in a vacuum. So theoretically your ship should be able to go the same speed backwards as it does forwards. The only thing to take into account is Engine power. Obviously forward thrusters would be much stronger than reverse thrusters so the ship should accelerate faster going forward but should still be able to achieve the same speed going backwards.GRAWRG. wrote:I actually don't like that. i still think my idea of having the default thrusting and top speed the same backward as it is forward would be pretty good.HUSKER wrote:Actually, thats how space works.
