Re: Has Toonces considered releasing this game on Steam?

I dunno how Steam handles developer microtransactions and whether they would want to impose using their payment system for SGE instead of buying tokens, if that's still a thing. That or maybe there's a fee to list/maintain a submission to Steam versus self-hosting for free. Biggest advantages I coul...

It has been so long since I've played.

Re: Nostalgiawave

SGE is a neat time capsule. I can't believe a lot of it has stayed mostly the same. My crummy Windows 10 laptop has problems running it. Would be fun to try again one day once all of these Microsoft updates sort themselves out. These forums threads are so fun to read. I'd come home to it back then a...

Hey!

I don't think we've ever run into each other. But I'm glad you remember the forums. Every once ina while it's nice to come back here and think back to all those evenings sliding around cols and doing dumb stuff in space.

I hope this place stays around forever.

I like looking through the forums from time to time.

Really glad that SGE is still around. :)

Have you tried running in compatibility mode? That fixed an issue for me where I couldn't see the login screen.

Such a long time. I remember being very annoyed with you.
I think at some point I managed to piss off a ton of mods. I don't remember what happened, but I nuked all of my PMs to avoid reliving that really... weird, time of my life again.

It's good to hear from you. :D

I don't have kids, but half the people I know say that calmer situations builds good habits and such, like kind words to your kid reflecting what he says. Or, he could say he hates his parents and wants them to burn. Most of the time, it's better off with the former. But how did this go from swearin...

In all actuality, kids inherit the actions/traits of their parents; their anger builds, and they want to take it out on somebody if what Mental said was what he does (I feel sorry for his kids, I can see him chasing them with a lawnmower or pitchfork xD) or any other parent. They should opt to havin...

It costs to put out games, and someone spending time making boxes/burn copies and sell is going to spend money for equipment. He/she will want a percent of the profit gross, so he/she can reclaim some cash spent on the equipment. No one will buy a game in a slapped-together cardboard box, so good qu...

Great for sparing other servers questions that could be otherwise solved in the forums or another player; we could have a community in there to offer tutorials, because its best to have human players; computer-guided means that if you don't understand, it will not explain it further/summarize. What profit margin do you get? What share does Toonces get? What's the calculated average salary? I'm guessing no one will buy a game on a stand in the streets. That's bad publicity. Toonces will be the laughingstock of game developers.

I see variations, but my idea was a server with two maps; 1 safe map 1 insane, user packed deathmatch map Each of which designated areas (Sol and some random galaxy name) with no other purpose then to allow players to blow the hell out of each other, Halo Wars-style. Probably capping it at 70-100 pl...

Especially for massive server populations, such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars (oh my gosh, Guild Wars was infested with pervs, creeps, and foul-mouthed careermen); some still have good communities warding off uglies (MapleStory), and some are in question (Star Sonata). WoW, especially, has a larg...

Thankfully, repetitive insults directed at a specific individual is harassment and is a bannable offense, so those trying to ...

Maniacus, too, methinks. Some other from the Kick donkey forums as well or something. But overall, the idea is far too costly, and wouldn't have too much players, as is the state its in currently in freeware, if it upgraded to paid, we'd have half the population or even less... Not many in favor, I ...

Not dissing SGE, but I honestly don't think it's worth $20 USD. PTT is donation-run, currently, since they're not charging monthly (then there would be little to no players left) or by box. Maybe buying a starter kit cheap. Cause remember, putting out SGE on shelves means you need a factory to packa...

It would gear it towards a massive recreation of a nation war then, with two 'factions' of Humans and Intergalactics; I suppose it would make it exciting, especially if we see some major wars going on with a 100+ player battle map. Battle royale's true definition. ;)
