Shields

Shields are a spaceship's defense mechanism.

Your ship's shields level is displayed as the meter on the left-hand side of the gauge capstone at the top of the screen, on the console display. Some types of spaceships can carry more total shields than others. Shields do not automatically regenerate! Once lost, they are gone forever. The way to replenish shields is to buy them at Starports.

Whenever your ship is hit by a weapon or other damaging force, its shields are reduced. If your ship is damaged while shield level is 0, it will blow up, and you will be reduced to piloting an escape pod.

During a duel, shields are not damaged by weapons fired by your duel opponent.
