Reputation
From Starport: Galactic Empires
Reputation (rep) is a number that reflects your character's history of deeds in the galaxy. It can be negative or positive. In general, nice, supportive deeds will increase rep, while mean acts will reduce it. However it is important to note that while a red or evil person may be very nice and friendly toward you, a yellow or good player could be very mean, reputation is not an indicator of a character's attitude toward other characters. But NPCs will not attack people with same kind of rep unless attacked.
People with good reputation are given the following bonus:
- U.N. commission
- U.N. Hotline
- the ability to buy the Imperial Starcruiser with U.N. commission
- the ability to pick up more colonists at ports
People with negative reputation are given the following bonus's
- the ability to rob money from ports
- the ability to use the Pirate base which sells nukes and the sethdar cruiser
You will lose reputation from:
- Jettisoning colonists
- Killing people or Npc's with good rep
- completing an escort mission while you already have negative rep
- robbing ports
- getting cought robbing a port
- Invading a colony from someone with good reputation
You will gain reputation from:
- Sheltering colonists
- killing people or Npc's with negative rep
- completing an escort mission while you have positive rep
- completing a taxy mission
- owning colonies (you can see how much rep your colonies earn you by clicking on the broadcast tower)
- Invading colonies from someone with negative reputation
- Adding money to people's bounties at the police station, you will gain 1 rep for every 1000 credits you add to the bounty.
When you kill someone the amount of reputation you gain or lose is equal to the amount of 1/10 of the killed person's reputation for example: If the killed person's rep is 15400, you lose 1540. If the killed person's rep is -9270, you lose -927 (in other words, you gain 927).
