Planets
From Starport: Galactic Empires
There are 10 classes of planets to be found throughout the galaxy. Colonies can be founded on all types except gas giant and tiny worlds. Planet type has a major impact on what the colony will be like.
Each planet has one of many possible layouts, which is important to the planning and defense of your colony.
The easiest worlds to colonize are the earth-likes because they have a high reproduction rate. Another words, a population of 1,000 colonists on an earthlike can grow to 1,100 in a few hours without the need to transport more colonists to the colony. On the other hand a planet type with negative reproduction rate, such as the dangerous volcanic worlds, might see a colonial population dwindle from 1,000 down to 900 after several hours.
Desert worlds are coveted for their spice production, but they are rare and hard to find in the galaxy. The intergalactic paradise worlds are the best planets in all the galaxy for colonization. The following is a list of the planet types, their colonist reproduction rates, and the resource that is most abundant on that type of planet.
