Mini Games

Mini games are the unofficial pastime of players that have nothing better to do. They serve no purpose except for the fun of those involved. Most are played on the 4-hour blitz server, but can be played on any server.

Speedstar sumo

There are two types of speedstar sumo, tournament and non-tournament. Each type is played in Antarean Speedstar's and, because of the frequency of death and vulnerability to other players, it is generally played on the blitzkrieg server. In both types the point of the game is to kill you opponent by pushing him/her into a ring of compound mines using the special ability on the speedstar. NO OTHER WEOPONS ARE ALLOWED.

In tournament style, a group of players will come together on the blitzkrieg server and designate one person as the host. This person cannon participate in the game and is responsible for holding everyone's money, setting up the ring, replacing compound mines, and when necessary, fight off other players. Usually the location and time of tournament style matches are kept secret and are only open to invited guests.

Once the host has been designated he will collect everyone's money, get a barge, and fill up with compound mines. Every player involved will head out in search of a suitable moon. In tournament style you need to find a moon planet with enough room for an uninterupted square match about 8*8 squares of empty space in the middle and 2 c'mines thick.

Once the planet has been found the host will set up the ring while everyone participating will gather in their speedstar's and wait for the matches to begin. The host will form a corp and the two opponents will both join the corp and fly to the center of the ring. Once there they will leave the corp and the mines will become hostile, then the host will countdown and on go each player begins firing and attempts to push their opponent out of the ring.

If someone completely leaves the ring and remains alive the match will be paused and the person will rejoin the corp, reenter the ring, and leave again. The host will count down again for the next round.

In non-tournament games, two players find a moon planet with a ring layout. both players will drop 24 (or an agreed upon number of compound mines) on opposite sides of the landing zone. Then during play they will attempt to use their speedstar's special ability to push their opponent into their mines. Since only one side is hostile to each player, if the players, end up in a position where they can only be knocked into their own (safe) mines, the match will be paused and each player will go back to the center with the opponent between them and their own mines.

Pod Hocky

This mini game, is where 2 teams of equal players made of whales, speedstars, and ceo ships, attempt to repel, bump, or drag a escape pod towards the other team's goal. Generally played on a planets surface, with low drag.

SGE racing

This includes many types of racing, where the goal is to race around a track as fast as possible. Some races have c-mines to outline the track, to discourage corner cutting.

Different ship limitations can also be imposed on the racers, such as, only being able to use speedstars, garbage barges, and merchant cruisers, secondary weapons allowed.

Generally played on a planets surface, with very low drag, but racing around black holes, and racing between systems are popular as well.

Flower Dueling

This mini game, is where two captains use dreamsowers to duel. Generally this is done with Death rays, 0 dex, and on a gas giant. These settings, combined with slow energy regeneration, low shields, the secondary weapon, and very low manuverablity... creates a slow, but incredibly intence duel. Very matrix-like.
