Entering

Your spaceship has an Enter switch which can be either on or off. It is one of the six quick-buttons on the right-hand side of your console display, about midway down. Enter mode is the 3rd button from the top, with a picture of a door as its icon.

When Enter mode is on, your ship will enter objects that can be entered including planets, ports, and warp portals. When Enter mode is off, your ship will bounce off or pass through these objects instead.

Entering a port will dock your ship at the port and bring you to the port screen. Entering a planet will transport your ship to that planet's surface. Entering a warp portal will cause your ship to warp to the destination star system of that portal. You must have full energy to warp.

If Enter mode is on and you use your mouse to click on an object that can be entered, either on the main game display or the radar, your ship will Autopilot to that object and enter it. Deployed defenses that you own can be picked back up using enter mode, as well.
