Characters
From Starport: Galactic Empires
Every participant in a galaxy of Starport: Galactic Empires controls one and only one character. You can view your character's status by pressing the "Character" button on the six quick-buttons portion of the console.
Note that this is different from your account. You have one account (user name and password to log into SGE) and you can have multiple characters, up to one per galaxy.
Important: All characters exist in the game at all times, even when the person who controls them is offline.

Attributes
Characters have 3 base attributes decided during character creation. The player is given 15 points to divide among these three attributes, with no more than 10 points allowed for any single attribute.
Charisma
Affects the ability to recruit colonists from starports, the ability to haggle with port merchants, and slightly improves colony morale of owned colonies (an average is used for corporate colonies).
Wisdom
Decreases the warp fuel used by 0.2 per wisdom when warping from one star system to another.
Dexterity
Increases the combat prowess of the ship you fly by increasing turning speed, energy regeneration rate, and thrusting power.
Note: Once set, these three attributes along with your character name become rather permanent and can only be changed with tokens, not credits. Its a good idea to start the game on a Rebang. This will give time to understand the effect of the three attributes.
Other Attributes
The dynamic attributes of a character are experience and reputation. A character always controls one and only one spaceship. Characters have inventories where they can hold personal items (currently only artifacts). Characters have a certain amount of credits (money) on their person, and a certain amount in their galactic bank account. A character may own defenses and colonies. A character can hail another character in the same system to trade with them. A character can belong to a corporation.
Profile Screen
Any character's profile can be viewed while playing. Either click on the player from the ranking list or the "Who's Online" list, or use the "/pro", "/char", or "/who" keyboard commands.
The profile shows you the attributes described above plus a few additional facts such as NPC kills, player kills, followers, last time the user logged out of the galaxy, and medals won. The attributes shown include any enhancements due to artifacts.
This information can be used, for example, to assess the threat level of another player. If the player has a high player kill number and high dexterity then they are more likely to be a threat to you.
Your profile shows your cash, but this is not displayed to any other user. Note that your corporations total cash is visible to other users via the corporation screen.
Quote
Users can enter a quote for their player, limited to a non-scrolling box of 4 37-character lines.
Clicking in your character's quote box starts the editing. The Enter key completes the entry as opposed to entering a blank line. Closing the profile or clicking anywhere else will also save the quote changes. There is no undo or way to cancel edits.
The lines break at word boundaries where a blank space is the only delimiter recognized. To start at the line, fill the remaining space with spaces.
Colored text can be added by using color markup. The extra text to change the color may cause the text to scroll off the bottom of the quote box, but the bottom text is saved and displayed properly. However this lower text can't be edited unless some of the top text is deleted. Also, after 100 characters including the color markup there is an automatic delimiter which can cause an unexpected line break.
The quote is displayed in a fixed font so some limited ASCII art[1] is possible.
