jukebox

Postby feenix » Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:37 pm

im sure it's been said before but i would love to see a jukebox in the game you could select to play songs we are familiar songs we know not that elevator music we have now,and be entertained by it. and we'd only have to play 150tokens or maybe more im not sure note i didn't say 1.5k tokens either that or 500 tokens and everybody would be able to listen to the song you picked. if you guys need song provided if this idea gets implemented i do have over 5000 over them, i got huge mp3 database

That;d be epic :D How about 100 tokens to play yourself and 500 for everyone to hear it...

Or just make it a jukebox like you said, where everyone hears your song.

ya everybody, this way you can jam with your buddies. while you are invading or something like that. if toonces is willing to do the coding i'd be more than willing to give him my songs and im sure if everyone contribute songs we could have a sick database of music. if he was worried about having a harddrive for the database, i guess i could use my pc has music server, im not sure about the bandwith that i have but i know i have high speed internet, and reliable too so far. and i host my own webserver, so i have knowledge in servers so i could help too. just sharing this info so toonces don't think oh crap here's a shitload of work for me to do lol

Edit: while in game after i posted the msg above we found theses issues and solution that are important for this to work right here's the chatlog
[ 5:15:17] DeekuLime shouts: Not to be rude, but this sounds like it could slow things down a bit

[ 5:15:59] Feenix shouts: humm im great you mention that, that's one thing we will have to adress if we do this
[ 5:16:57] Feenix shouts: well here's an idea we could always have a jukebox off setting in options this way if you want peace and quiet you can
[ 5:17:56] Feenix shouts: as far as when it's on all we need is make it fairly low quality..... lower quality less traffic needed, you can always have good sounding music with low quality traffic

[ 5:20:10] DeekuLime shouts: It would also depend on people's internet speed, high speed can handle higher quality, but if it can be coded in a way that it detects internet speed in streams in appropriate quality, that's work

[ 5:20:48] Feenix shouts: ya im sure that can be done will be lot of work for toonces but ya im sure it's not very hard to code that

[ 5:21:48] DeekuLime shouts: Otherwise, it all seems quite straight forward, with the exception of getting the actual music. So probably to avoid any legal issues he might have to code it in a way that whoever pays tokens for the song has to stream it right from their computer, so if it's illegally downloaded no impact falls on Toonces.

[ 5:23:20] Feenix shouts: :/ hummm.... well i do have over 5000 songs which i did mention to them they can have copy of it or even use me has server since my pc is a webserver as we are talking right now
[ 5:23:30] Feenix shouts: that is a big issue tho
[ 5:23:42] Feenix shouts: don't want toonces sued over this lol

Toonces would have to pay royalties to the producer of the music. Thus it would not be ideal.

they still make elvis albums. ...someone still makes money off them.

dead artists have estates...those estates, whomever owns them, earns the royalties.

the only way this could work would be songs that the copyrights have expired.

in other words this is a stupid idea.
