GEClient.exe has stopped working.

So... I uninstalled, then renamed the folder. Downloaded SGE from the Playtechtonics mirror and put it in a StarportGE folder. Ran as adminstrator, then when it gets to the login screen, it closes and says "GEClient.exe has stopped working. I restarted my compy and tried again. My parents have down in terms of protection for my compy or anything. Idk what could be wrong. I just opened up SGE earlier today and it did this, so I tried to fix it. I've ran out of ideas. plz help

EDIT: Reinstalled again. This time if I click on NewLaucher and GEClient it does the same thing, but if I do Laucher, the screen turns black as SGE pops up, then it puts SGE in the bar. If I pull it up again, it just rebars it. Ringing any bells here? I'm gonna try to download the normal way.

EDIT2: K, so I downloaded the normal way, and it patched a bit. Then when I opened it, it opened in Window Mode (which is how I usually have it, but it was opening in fullscreen since it stopped working earlier today). But then it just closed out again at the login screen. Now Ima try to download to a different spot on my compy.

EDIT3: So I tried that as well, nothing working. So I guess I give up BTW I was running everything "As an Administrator" and on an Administrator's account. And my parents never changed anything. And it would seem that this isn't happening to any of you... So idk whats up xD Please help me. I need my blitz D:

So you went to add/remove programs and uninstalled it there, then deleted the remaining starportge folder from your comp, then downloaded the install file again, it installed without trouble, it patched completely up to the latest, then when u tried to log in it didn't work? have you tried rebooting? And did you also go to your firewall options and re-add an exception for the starport launcher.exe file? Also did you check any and all anti-virus software to make sure it wasn't interfering?

Yes I did everything you said, except for going to add/remove programs. I'll try it when my mom gets home

I have pretty much the same problem:

1) Started SGE
2) Login screen starts shimmering, exit SGE window back to taskbar (happens every time I log in, so nothing special yet), opened it again and started spamming mouse a few seconds untill it stayed
3) Logged in
4) Logged into server, can't see shields/energy bars (still not unusual for me)
5) Repeated all the previous, logged into server and bars are visible now
6) Bought some stuff in the starport I logged out in, tried to go to the lounge to drink some hullbangers... as I click the lounge the game crashes and "GEclient stopped working"
7) Tried everything to fix it, nothing worked

The odd part is that the game only crashes and shows the error message when I try to enter the lounge, I can talk to merchants and enter/exit starports and all of that without a problem...

Ive been playing the game for a couple of weeks now without any problems, except the occasional shimmering login screen and invisible shields/energy bars, we have decent internet and no changes made to it recently...

How the **** do I fix this?
