As much as I luv Robbie for Ireland, he aint all that. Rangers for the title. But honestly tho I find it very hard to get excited about Scottish football. Outside of the old firm its probably on a par with the Eircom Irish Premier League. If I was to pick a team from Scotland to cheer it would prob be Hibs.....but in sayin that you'd prob hav to poke me with a stick to cheer them. :)

I think Rep Ireland got a nice draw. Its time for Trappa to step up nd deliver now.

As for Scotland. its a tough one. I predict they beat Spain home and away but lose to everyone else.

Wow Moley, did u even wait till full time to post it? But seriously, they were bad. Chelsea are much better than inter and should have seen them off in Milan. But I cant complain. Jose did the business and was in Ancelotti's head way before a ball was even kicked.
This was disappointing, sure enough. But it wasn't a Champions League exit to rank with the gob-smacking, soul-crushing, sleep-haunting calamities that the competition normally arranges for us around this time of the year. It didn't even come close. Nowhere near it.
For starters, their winning goal in the second leg actually went over the line and into the goal. There can be no doubt about that. It really did. It hit the net and everything. Not like 2005, then, against Liverpool.
For another thing, the tie (and, along with it, a place in the final) wasn't going our way until the last moments, enabling one of their players to pick up our only stray clearance of the night, move infield and then crack in a match-clinching away goal, causing lasting psychological damage to everyone that was in the ground. (Barcelona, 2009.)
Also, the game didn't go to penalties, obliging our captain to step through the teeming rain and muff his kick for destiny, creating a moment which some of us, nearly two years later, still haven't looked at again on the recording because they simply aren't in any shape yet to revisit it (Moscow, 2008).
Nor did last night's match contain four clear-as-daylight claims for penalties (Barcelona 2009 again), requiring Michael Ballack to go up in the referee's face like one of those inflatable footballer figures that they blow up in front of the crowd at finals. In fact, let the record show that the two legs combined only yielded one outrageous penalty denial (Salomon Kalou in the San Siro) - a startlingly low count, in the circumstances and given the history.
Nor will the tie leave us with the irritating legacy of having gone out to what historians agree is the worst side ever to win the Champions League (Liverpool 2005 again). On the contrary, should Inter go on to take the tournament, I don't suppose many of us would have a major problem with that - especially if they manage to take down Manchester United on the way through.
OK, they waste time a lot and they're ultra-defensive and they fall over too easily and feign life-threatening injuries in order to disrupt play. But that doesn't mean they're an altogether bad side and, indeed, they can even be quite attractive to watch from time to time. Or impressive to watch, anyway.
So, in summary, what are we actually looking at here? A mostly straight-forward, relatively uncontroversial defeat to a side that was genuinely better than us over the two legs. If Inter and the officials had wanted to get to us in a big way, they would have had to try an awful lot harder than that. We've seen too much. Our skin has necessarily grown too thick. It's going to take something really special to upset us, Champions League-wise, these days.
One other bright point: when it comes to Europe, Didier Drogba seems to like to mark the end of one campaign by getting himself banned for the start of the next. And this he duly managed last night, without too much effort. So you can't say the night didn't go according to plan, at least in one respect.

With the first 2 goalies out as well, it looks like the title is heading back to Mancky Utd.

Any bets on the next Chelsea manager?

Phew, feel good to get that off your chest?

Seriously though, Ancelotti almost seemed more concerned about getting one over on Mourinho than anything else, he obviously wasn't expecting Mourinho to put out such an attacking lineup away from (neither was anyone to be fair).

First leg was close but Inter deserved it for their display at the bridge.

Also how can someone who supports a team containing Drogba complain about another teams players falling over too easily!! :P

Did you notice 'The Special One' in his post match interview saying how he enjoyed coming back to the bridge and that he may do in the future again with another English club...... next Man Utd manager?!?

Yup, definately the nxt Utd manager. Well its between him, Moyes and O'Neill. To be honest I cant blame him if he goes to Utd. He wants to come back to England and if you listen to some of his comments he's burning his bridges in Italy already.

He is egotistical and has a lot of baggage, but I'd have him back in the morning. He is the special one.

      Man Utd. Vs Glasgow Rangers:

      In the locker room:

Ahh, it's only Man U today lads, says Walter Smith. Let's all go down the pub instead. But we'll have to leave someone behind to play against them ...

I'll do it boss, said Barry Ferguson.

Alright then, To the pub lads!

So the team goes down the pub, and leaves Barry Ferguson to square off against Man U on his own. So they have a couple of drinks and then wander back to the stadium to see that the final score was Man U 1 - 0 Rangers, 67th minute.

Barry see's the team approaching and runs to them and says 'Guys, i'm so sorry, i couldn't help it.'

'Are you kidding', says Walter Smith. 'It was only 1-0, thats amazing!'

'I know, but i got sent off in the 14th minute ...'

I don't want to be pedantic but I've never heard Ibrox being referred to as a stadium before, most football clubs refer to their 'grounds'.

Also, I think you're being a bit generous describing it as a 'joke'!! ;)

      Pfft ...

I've called it a stadium all my life.

So have many others in my area. Livingston Stadium, Ibrox Stadium, athough normally, Ibrox is fine on it's own.

Scottish Football is, when you take Celtic and Rangers out of the equasion, at best on a par with league of Ireland. I dont mean to degrade the league but I do wonder why so many ppl get excited about it. Any player from Ireland who moves to Scottish football easily adapts in his first few weeks as its not a step up for them. I look around me in Ireland and see so many ppl wearing Celtic colours, and I'm sure in the north of Ireland its prominant aswell, with Rangers taking their share of this island fan base too. The fact of the matter is, if the Scottish League didnt have religious bigotry to rely upon, it would be long forgotten about. I resent the Scottish league, for it has robbed the island of Ireland of so many football fans. Fans that should be following clubs like Shamrock Rovers, Cork City, Linfield, Derry City, Shelbourne, Glentoran, Bohemians and St. Patricks Athletic. Its sad that the reson behind the exodus is religion. When I look at our clubs in both the Irish Leagues I feel sorrow at how these institutes, with all their history, struggle to half fill their stadiums because the locals are too busy saving their pennies for their next trip to Glasgow to shout abuse, in the name of god, at other christians. If The FAI and IFA were to work together to create a league of the Island of Ireland and to bring in some big Irish names that were nearing the end of their playing days, I do believe that the league would surpass the Scottish one within a decade. I still respect the history of Scottish clubs, Celtic being the first british team to win the European cup is something to be very proud of, but for people in Ireland to feel part of that history is crazy in my opinion. And the reasoning behind it is religion. I belief also that the Scottish FA have done little until recent years to tackle this and the little they are doing now is not enough as he simple truth of the matter is that religious bigotry gets bums on seats. I would also like to state that I am not anti religious. I am a catholic and even a nationalist. I also have a Scottish prodestent ansestory so maybe I'm just seeing it for what it is.
