USA USA

well, unfortunately no one took the bet.

also it wasn't for a medal.

however, The US team played and won a pivotal position in tonight's mens hockey win over team Canada in Vancouver, Canada.

I'm from Ottawa and still think the Sens can't win BBQ. They always die in the first or second round of playoffs, if they make it that is...

Well a heart felt congratulations go to Canada's ice hockey team. It was an amazing game (for the last period at least.)

My heart was racing the last 40 seconds and I actually got up off the bed to sit on the floor a foot from the TV. I was thinking in those last few seconds the cinderella team Slovakia is going to beat the big boys on their home ice. However, tonight wasn't to be for the 'Vakians.

The salute/sendoff to the Canadian fans from Team Slovakia was nearly tear-jerking, as gay as that sounds I was moved by the professionalism and respect this team showed to the world community and to Canada after a heart wrenching defeat.

"Le hockey est le jeu du CANADA. One fan was quoted after the game. We'll see I thought.

All of Canada's goals were scored in the first period and they looked like the team to beat. However, their third period mess might be signs of weakness and USA should jump all over those.

See you on Sunday for the gold! :D

/Excited about ice hockey somehow-Major.

p.s. Chiccy: when i was 10 we had this mountain (really big hill) a few miles from my house the older kids and generations before us nicknamed "Blood and Guts" (also Pattens Nickname during WWII) rumor had it a few kids died on it during sledding disasters. 1st of all, it was steep. 2nd, it had a rock bed creak at the bottom just as the hill started to plateau (kind of a reverse plateau but you get the idea yeah?). If you didn't hit the jump you crashed and got hurt, ALL TIMES really bad. If we only filled in the creak with snow instead of making a jump over it no one would ever gotten hurt.

point is, without stricter safety measures: luge is for idiots. not the brave.

Please do madace, calculate the medals per capita, please, even though the population of a country has nothing to do with the few ppl that play in the olympics, Im intrested in seeing your math.

in that case, i'd like to see how you calculated that 'total population size' and 'amount olympic atheletes' are uncorrelated.

I suggest using linear single regression in SPSS , but I'm sure you've already done that.

Medals per capita has been a measuring stick for prowess in the Olympics for decades. Do you honestly think (err... no, you don't think) a country like Liechtenstein with a population of 34,498 has an equal opportunity for medals than a country like the US, the latter of which can pool out of the talents of over 300 million people and has more stadiums and similar equipment in one city than Liechtenstein has in it's entire country?

Do you have any idea of the massive differences in scale between both country's sports infrastructure?

This, my grey-matter challenged friend, is NOT a good example of scalability.

At first I thought you just lacked oxygen at birth. But now I'm beginning to think you were born in the vacuum of space and then left there for a few hours. Seriously.

Oh, you're so witty, and smart. It's overwhelming.

Tho I should be courteous and allow you your fun for the next 3 days. That's 3 days you'll have fun with me and the people at the mental asylum don't get sh!t flung at them whenever you're bored.

I should grant them that. Leaves them only to wipe up your drool and restrain you from humping the wall sockets.
