Token Reform

Post by Deathreape98 » Thu Feb 28, 2008 11:08 pm

I propose that players be able to see the original owner of their tokens. They would be seperated, so if you bought 5k from MadAce, 20k from me, and 30k through the club, it would say "You have 5k tokens from MadAce, 20k from Deathreape98, and 30k You bought". This would help in knowing who the buyer of your tokens are, so less confusion is brought with Token removal. Also, I propose that tokens from different players in trades. Like when trading your 5k MadAce tokens, the other player would see "5000 Tokens (MadAce)" on their trading screen.

hummm, not bad, not sure what others will say but i am a yes i guess, but personnaly i think it would be a lot of work to keep up with all that information, so i don't think it will ever get implemented but i am not against the idea

I don't really see the point in having this put in game.

It's so you know who you're actually buying tokens from. Lets say you don't trust player A, and refuse to buy tokens from him, thinking they're illegitimate. If player B buys tokens off of player A, then tries to sell them from you, you'll know that player A bought them, and won't buy them. This way, it is significantly harder to get scammed out of your money via Token Buying.

See, there's a flaw in your judgement right there. Because the demand for tokens is so high, no one will care if the seller is illegitimate, especially since there is no way of knowing it for sure. Unless they carry a big wooden board with the word "scammer" written on it, you'll be too busy trying to get ANY tokens to be suspicious.

This isn't really a bad idea, but I see a lot of other things of greater general usefulness that should take priority.

yeah but would anyone really give a rats where their tokens come from?

And if you wanna sell like 20k tokens, u would have to have like

2k tokens from madace
1k tokens from addsfa
3k tokens from bloppster
356 tokens from afsfsdadfsda
233 fasfasdfafsd
2888 asfafafsd

then u gotta add all the tokens up to make sure they add up to 20k tokens in your head or on a peice of paper and i dont think anyone wants to do that.

Or if you didn't like the feature, it would be optional. OR, maybe, They would be subcategories- like this
+20,000 Tokens
10,000 Tokens (Dirt)
5,000 Tokens (MadAce)
5,000 Tokens (Smeagol)
And you could click an arrow button to the left of the 20k Tokens to show the submenus or hide them.

this is a crap idea for two reasons : I used to trade in tokens a lot and had a bit of an influence on the market and supply to who shouldnt get them, this meant a ton of shady deals were going on if you could track deals then it will take some of that nasty sge politics out of the game.
I wont go into it in case theres people doing as I used to do and I dont want to crash there thing.

edit yeh forgot 2nd reason : its pointless.

Still goes back to the fact that if tokens originated with Nitwit1 and he traded them to DumDum2, who traded them to NoFuel3 and five more people down the line, you'd still have the tokens taken from Nitwit1 and DumDum2 if they still have any tokens left. Assuming that Nitwit1 acquired the tokens illegally.

No matter how convoluted the chain gets the original person that bought them is going to be the one that gets them removed. I have no idea what they do if DumDum2 no longer has any tokens left to remove.

There is a log of how many tokens someone bought and exactly where they are now, that is how they are able to take away all tokens that were acquired illegally.
Finding out where these tokens are coming from aren't going to stop people from buying tokens from every random newb who sells them. I think this is just going to take up a lot of storage and additional unnecessary coding for admins.
I don't care where my tokens came from and if anything I would enjoy having tokens from my enemies even more
