Help with colonies.

Post by Zombiekiller » Thu Feb 03, 2011 12:22 pm

Ive already read the guide in this forum, but I'm lookng for more.

Im trying to learn to build. Interested in more in depth look at building.
Looking for information on how to balance high population colonies and the fundamentals of building and balancing a "Zounds"

Also, lookng for more in depth information on planet layouts, dome placements.
What I've found so far, pics have been deleted and it seems a bit outdated.

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on what GMT you play and server I could help you in game.

Otherwise yes, some of these are outdated, however they still provide valuable information for empire building.

To get the highest population possible depends on what resources you are harvesting. A good rule is if you are harvesting them all, aside from the bottom three, your pop will grow most times.

Ive found the easiest cols to zounds have advanced arch lvl 3 up...and are generally earthlikes or artics, but you could zoinds almost any planet type. With that said, I'm not a builder by any stretch. I generally go around looking to steal others. Or spam build until I'm lucky.

Hope this helps until a real builder can actually help you.

If you want to experiment solo , I could offer you building credits, protection from invasions, and a contract on the server Boundless Seas.

Thanks MaJor. I appreciate any sort of feedback. Im tredging through as many posts as I can. The guides are some things I already know.
I also appreciate your generosity, I have myself well established on a few servers, I just am not a very good builder.
Always trying to better myself ya know?

Look on the 3rd and 4th pages of this thread (you might have to scroll down a bit):
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2928&start=90

Dome placements are, IMHO, the MOST important aspect of building. A good dome placement makes or breaks a col.

Why is that thread not stickied anymore? wtf?

Cool. Nice consolidation job, too.

If you are super bored one day, maybe you could make mine and saber-fury's dome placement pictures in a separate thread. I would imagine that newbies coming to look for information wouldn't make it to the posts buried in pages 3-5. We spent a lot of time and effort making the pictures because we feel this is the most under-appreciated aspect of building that newbies miss out on.

I'll see what I can do.

I'm volunteering to do that.

I've been thinking about writing a new builders thread, one that details all your resources, pop stabalisation, possible placements etc so it would fit in nicely.
