Post by Camara » Tue Jul 21, 2009 11:59 am

I'm looking at going into that new game and couldn't find out from starpedia or here.

Thanks,

• Human players can still invade colonies owned by the “United Nations” (further referred to as “the U.N.”). These colonies are made by the game at the beginning of EVERY server (Blitzkrieg, rebang, permanent servers) and are not found by human players, there for these colonies can be invaded by any player. If they are taken by a player, another player can still invade them. In other words: all colonies originally started by the U.N. can be invaded, even in PAX games.

• Human players may damage/kill other human players on colony surfaces. In other words, you can only damage/kill another human player if they are invading one of your (former U.N.) colonies (of course they can also damage/kill you).

If you are a new user and looking for a good rebang (14 day server) beginner's pax might be a good choice, no PK and no invasion and it is only for new users. Beginner's Galaxy or Milky way are also newbie servers but not PAX's but I think they would give you a starting view of the game.

Let us not forget to tell him that defenses left in space can kill you on PAX games. Watch out for players that use cmines or lasers at ports or if they drop lasers in space and tractor you into them.

PAX isn't as easy as it may seem, do to the fact domes cost 760k each instead of 40k on pk servers. Much harder to get started on PAX and if you ever play a Permaverse PAX it will be hard to find empty planets unless they've died to pollution or neglect. Nothing much changes hands on a Permanent PAX server.

It's a good place to learn a bit and not be threatened by players.

shouldn't there be a pax only game mechanic that frees up land, or should there just not ever be any permanent paxes? im really tired of patches aimed at pax games applying to pk servers as well, because they are NOT the same and shouldn't be treated like one patch fits all.

You will need to update that Wiki as it is incorrect on a few things:

The patch that changed the prices around makes bio domes cheap or not, depending on when the server was last down for maintenance. For some reason, the prices get reset.

Lasers in space can convert your ship in to a pod (killed), and if hit again, it is a free trip to Sol.

Players killed by lasers and flaks, are told who killed them, while death by mines just say defenses killed them - In both cases, their name ends up in the news.

Players may also be killed on an open colony type planet, not just an abandoned dome (dead dome or DD for short). The term 'sleeper' is used to describe a player who stayed on a dead dome or open colony, a very bad idea, and who was found and killed by another.

The contractor leaving an employer has to wait a day before attacking the former corp-owned IGP or UN colony. If a contractor or even corp member is removed from a corp, they may stay on the colony they went to sleep on, but will no longer have access to the things in the dome, like the refinery - Any active weapons on the surface of that colony will open fire the moment that player logs in, possibly killing them.

You're right, its a bit out of date. You should make yourself a wiki account and help out :)
