Was on download.com looking for free mmorpgs.

Found a few and they were gay.

Then I found Starport: Galactic Empires sitting there.

Downloaded it and fell in love.
Exact same for me. By the way, "Rule in Hell" SUCKS! Although once the bugs are worked out of it, it will be a good game me thinks.

I finally got fed up with WOW and wanted a change. I had just been talking with my friend about all the different things I wanted in a MMO and we agreed that I'd never find them.....I think you know where this is going.

Anyhow, I was looking for this other MMO that I had played in the past, it was space-like and you had big islands that were your planets where you could build buildings and make fleets and such. It was RTSesque, but I can't remember the name (if you can, please PM me or post it so I know. Water is a big resource as is something else...and you need to use them to open jumpgate type things....anyhow, if you know, let me know please). So, I was going through the list on MMORPG.com sorted by Category. I was going down the Sci-Fi games and couldn't find the one I was looking for. So I figured I'd give SGE a try.

Anyhow, back to the first paragraph....it's the game I've been looking for. Now if only a Perma server would start that I could get on fresh.....

I know the game you were talking about.

But I'm not gonna tell you which it is. Why?

Wanna spare you the dissapointment.

-Closed community.
-Buggy.
-Laggy.
-Paying.
-Nerfed.
-Less PvP than SGE.

So far the only PvP I've gotton to see (since I'm on the beginner servers) is folks I can only assume are Vets due to their ability going around blowing up everyone on the server. Seems odd that it was marked a server for new players, of course it could just be someone who knows what they're doing right out of the gate, but it. It does take a little fun out of the learning the game when someone just wants to dominate the new player server. But on the other hand, it's good to have experienced folks there to get advice from (as long as they're willing to give advice).

And the one time I tried to kill something (an NPC attacking my escort) and got blown up all I got was "LOL NOOB" in the /s channel. So, I'm sure not everyone is like that, but on a noob server, I would assume that it should be noobs or folks looking to help them, so I'm not too sure on the community just yet.

there are a few people that make new accounts for the "noob protection"

and a few that do it cause they can win on a normal server.

and a few that hack the game so that they can play any server(and get unlimitied enegry at the same time)

Well, my exploits in SGE started with a little game called StarFury. its a RPG, and pretty much is the same as SGE....exept that its not online, and the whole point of the game is to A) follow the story, and B) kill all the npc not allied with your race. well anyway. i got a new graphics card, and then StarFury didnot work (i got it from those dirct to dive places.) so i email their support desk, and said "HEELLLP IM IN DEEP BBQ! MY GAME WONT WORK!" j/k anyway, it was more like "hi, i am blah blah blah blha, and my game wont work. i got a new graphics card, and it wants my code. it was done aoutmatically, so i have no clue what it is. here is the proof of perchase from the origonal perchase XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx" i dont feel like typing that xD
and i got a repy...and i saw the pretty google ads at the right of the screen :) and one said "Starport Galactic Empires a free MMORPG set in the futre" and that was enough to get me hoplessly addicted xD

edit-i forgot the good part. i didnot play StarFury for a long time after that, never even got around to putting in the code they sent me.

I was reading a rants and raves on craigslist once, a guy was talking about how a mmorpg ruined his life by spending all his time and money on it, almost lost his family.......job........etc.

I then did a google search of what a mmorpg was and I found this game, 4 years later still here. :)
