Had something to do with personal views clouding his judgement, instead of being a unbiased moderator views were interjected into the situation.JesusRocks765 wrote:What did you do to not be a moderator?
The idea of a moderator is to diffuse conflicts that are not in the best interests of the forum community, not use it to further ones agenda.
But we could use a active moderator or two, Lunatic and Kwijibo seem to be absent from these forums as of late just leaving Toonces as the sole moderator. He has more important things to do with the game instead of babysitting the kids here.
Going on 4-5 years myself....long time indeed.
Re: 7
Actually I survived the "personal views" stage and stayed a mod well beyond conquering personal bias. Which isn't really that hard at all. If you're online 18/7 you start to forget who's who pretty quickly and mostly judge on a post by post basis. After I quit playing the game (about 2 months into moderating) it got even easier to remain objective.WeGotDeathStar wrote:Had something to do with personal views clouding his judgement, instead of being a unbiased moderator views were interjected into the situation.JesusRocks765 wrote:What did you do to not be a moderator?

Besides, I got by perfectly in SGE before and after being a mod. If anything being a mod made it far harder to do anything in the game.
If you remember correctly, I resigned myself.
As for current moderators... What's to moderate?
Re: 7
I'm still here but I'm not totally focused entirely on SGE anymore. It's hard to think I've been around for over 5 years now. I remember the forum debates/riots when Entrophy and Madace were running amok. Bring in Manganator and Madace and he can have a lengthy debate over anything you can imagine. As long as we don't EVER bring back Talak Windstar I'm happy.

Pretty much this!MadAce wrote:As for current moderators... What's to moderate?
I still check in here every week or so but if we average one or two new topics per week thats about it!
Not sure if any of my old corpies still play but I haven't played SGE for at least a year now, game just isn't the same anymore, partly due to the fact that all the old players who made it fun for me are gone now and partly because unfortunately a lot of the recent changes Toonces has made have taken the game down a fairly self destructive path.
There was a period in 2007/2008 where the game was pretty much perfect, hugely active with a great natural balance between empires of builders and invaders, this was before the proliferation of servers and the endless 'balance tweaks' which have contributed to the spread and degradation of the player base and the alienation of players who where hit hard by patches. I continued to play actively for another two years or so after this but the game was never quite the same again.
Players who have been only playing for the last couple of years never really got to see the game in its glory years!
Toonces, SGE and all my old corpmates, /salute
