Here is a list of all patches up to the beginning of '08. Please feel free to post the more recent ones as well.

I thought this might be usefull so others can see what exactly has been going on with the patches.

Pre-August 06
273: Pirates with less than -1000 rep can sleep in ports for an increased fee. They used to be booted.

293: Adds drag (slows ship down and limits momentum) to planets with gaslike planets causing the most drag.

294: Democracy no longer produces nukes.

295: Your colonies highlighted in the system radar.

313: Anchor bug fixed.

314: /showcorp command introduced. Pirate inn fees reduced. Galaxy map flag colour selection changed.

317: GUI change

318: Improvements on new GUI. Inactivity penalty removed. Solar cannons don't have maximum range and can't be turned off.

320: Subscriber games are now called Tournament games. Cloak can be maintained during warping. Table of contents added to the Starpedia. Tourney point to admiral token conversion enabled. Refinery window now defaults to "pick up" tab. Hardware can now be picked up immediately after being deployed (formerly there was a short delay).

321: /cheer and /jeer commands introduced. Newly condensed view for cargo.

322-323: Bug fixes. Music files added to starport folder (but not yet implemented).

324: Deathray cheaper. Fusion blasters more expensive and more powerful. Explosive charges deal more damage.

325: </code>/warp</code> bug fix. Aliens are more visible on the radar. Explosive Charges use more energy to fire.

326: New texture for login windows.

327: The music can now be played in-game.

328: Pause option for music.

329: Exhaust trail graphics are more detailed.

333: NPC kills added to profile window.

334: Made it so that when people leave system their radar blip fades out rather than just vanishing.

335: Tournament trophies are visible in the profile window. "Drop All" button in weapons factory.

336: Bug Fixes.

337: Owner name added to holdings sorting.

338: Ship colours adjusted. Missile physics more realistic. Missile tracking more accurate.

339: Pollution cleaning warning made optional. Missile acceleration improved. Added confirmation window for corp resignation. "Next Track" button added. Solar fire on arctic planets shown as black on the radar instead of white.

341: Fixed medal counts. Corporate total experience and money now shows in millions.

342: Refinery and Radio receiver now have ~40% less build points. Selling a building yields half as much money. Resource prices tweaked. Supply/Demand has more influence, resource type has less influence.

343: NPC and other player ships now have exhaust trails. Colonists in cargo icon changed back to a single person instead of (what I'm assuming was supposed to be) a crowd. Damaged ships now smoke visibly.

346-347: You can't pick up money from colonies if you have 100 million, you can't drop off more than 10 million. Only the top 50 players appear in the news.

348/349: Introduced a bug that has NPCs with beam weapons not firing.

350: Oceanic appearance changed, Volcanic appearance changed for the third time.

352: Bugs with the map notes fixed. Mailbox composed messages stay if window is closed, and also if message is sent. However if message is sent AND window is closed, and text is gone. If the message is sent, edited and then closed, the text remains but To and Subject lines are cleared.

358: New sounds for: torping, warping, bouncing into things, missle launching, "click", primary weapons firing. /slap command without a person fixed to "Zavrith slaps at imaginary flies."

359: Solar tracking/laser firing bugs fixed. First round of colony changes: ane/med/org/oil usage per hour, dome2/dome3 pop limits to 5k/25k. Base morale and reproduction tweaked, and morale rate affects reproduction.

Patch 360: Solar cannons use ore hourly, and can shoot up to 10 shots at once. Max military increased to 2500 (5000 w/o military tradition). Unity bonus removed. Building exp changed to building entertainment for morale. All colonies give 1% of population size in exp per hour. Radio tower shows morale and pop growth detail. Earthlikes now harvest anaerobes.

Solar cannons now have a definitive range.

362/363: 5 tier research system implemented. Strip mining and stock market introduced. Industrial complex works for lasers also. Research limited to 10 tiers. All planets harvest all resources, but some are only in pitiful amounts. Ref level 2 changed from 2x to 1.5x harvesting rates. Researchers can now reduce pollution rate. Max tax accumulation raised from 30k to 50k /hr. Base reproduction rates appear reduced again

364: Weapons factory now consumes equip and ura.

365: Bartenders know IGP locations again XP needed for ranks adjusted up, new requirements for Emperor-level ranks. Directorship now gives bonus to researching environment.

366/367: Improvements to invisible lag issues. Commodities Market prices improved. Drop All button broken, then fixed, then broken again.

368: Compound Mines introduced. Sun colour filter applied to colony screen.


369: Corp members can now duel each other. Quotes have a box again.

370-373: Fixes for corporate dueling and compound mine bugs.

374: Missiles no longer target a cloaked avenger.

375: Aliens sometimes drop negs. Falcon is more maneuverable and can steal credits. All weapons fire on the radar is coloured black on most planets.

376-378: Alien limit on planets increased significantly (from 14 and 28 to ~50 and 100) Alien scan weights lowered. Other scan weights may have changed also. Negs cost only 200 energy to fire.

379: Two more dueling bugs resolved (dueling on an occupied planet, suiciding). Dead aliens in the radar are black (or white, depending on contrast). Exp from NPC kills reduced. For what, the third time? Arrow buttons do something funky when the galaxy map is open.

380: Tokens can be offered as a dueling reward. The game asks for an email address in case you forget your password.

381: Colonies under UN protection give only 1/4 as much experience as normal.

382: Artifacts can be seen in other player's profiles Arena view can be zoomed.

383: Zoom key mapping error fixed.

384: Scrolling through the chat bar no longer zooms arena view. Pressing arrows with galaxy map open no longer scrolls map diagonally. Text alignment bug for different zooms fixed.

385-390: Contractor system introduced. Some graphics issues may have been resolved. X and Arrow buttons different Min, Max and Blackout buttons on chat bar are now top-right instead of top-left. Experience is now awarded for finding artifacts

391-392: Civil War server banged Server software was probably changed to allow more variation in different games. Refinery no longer gives a summary of resource consumption.

393-395: Chatbar text can be sorted into different tabs.

Wow that's amazing. Keep it up... I actually don't remember patches by their names, but... Yeah.

I actually think if you finish this it would be a good thing for Toonces/Moderators to sticky, it's actually quite useful information. Could be one way of getting a quick view of the history of our beloved never ending beta.

I just looked at the '06 patches and realised I had already been playing for along time by then :shock:

Haha! I remember patch 273...because when people's reputations went negative overnight, crosseyed used to come and kill them while they were sound asleep >.>

Nightmare has claimed to have been in the very first rebang starport had, but I don't think he was the first (non-developer) to log in.

Yes, I do recall putting together a list of the patches long ago. I remember when we were under patch 50. I started probably around patch20-25 - didn't realize there were even patches up until bout patch 50. Would have to go way back to find the list.

New Patch:

Now shows how many colonists are working in each part of the colony in Holdings.
Holdings seem to load faster.
The exp/rep font doesn't go off the box anymore, and is smaller.
New Promotion
