The new Boundless Sea rebang

Just throwing this out there Toonces, can you make the new server a 10k pop max server? Those are so much fun!

Hey everyone, wouldn't it be awesome if the pop was capped at 10k?

Hello Lockon,

Yes, a 10k max population galaxy is a definite possibility. Can you give a brief explanation of what you like most about that setting compared to 25k?

Hey folks,

Can you post your thoughts or suggestions on settings for the new bang of Boundless Sea?

It will be a year-long testing galaxy (yes it will have the challenging steering at least at first), otherwise here are leading settings ideas:
-Low or No Asteroids
-Low Supply Ships
-Mostly Random-Generated Planet Terrain Maps
-10k pop max on colonies instead if 25k
-Fuel time 2 minutes
-Maximum Players Per Corp starting at 3 or 4 but rising by 1 each month.

Please weigh in on any other settings you would like to see.

Yeah, so with 10k pop cols it's easier to manage and tax the col. You can let it grow to the max and tax it for creds$$$, keep the pollution at a manageable level, and still produce weapons/defenses without thinking about maintaining it too much.

With a 25k pop cap, the closer you get to the limit the harder it is to take care of pollution. Too much pollution and you have to come back to clean it often. You can still tax it for lots of creds$$$ and produce items from the weapons factory but once you reach around 100 of these types of cols you would have to maintain the colonies on a daily basis.

With 10k pop limit it's much easier to maintain a large number of colonies.

As for my other thoughts on the ideas for the settings here they are as followed:

No Asteriods (Navigating between system will be made harder/longer with asteriods)
Like 8 IGPs
Very fast fuel (like maybe 2/min)
4 Corp size
High NPC count (but not so much that could cause lag)
(Only if this is doable) - Highly interconnected solar systems instead of dozens of legs/arms you'd have to backtrack if you traveled down them.
High starting cash, perhaps 1.5mil (mostly for newbies later on down the road)

That's all I could think of.

-30k colonies try something new? hehe if not 25k
-Fuel time 1 minutes 30 seconds
-Maximum Players Per Corp starting 4 but rising by 1 every month to a max of 10. like the idea of the corp growing over time
-About 1500 systems, galaxy map style like hercules cluster
-Double the passive shield regen speed
-95% of systems with ports
-Since its a year long server a massive tp pool for top 10 only say 500TPs maybe more to make people active
-Very little UN space
-500 UN planets
-Starting cash 1 mill
-9 bases in total, 5 good, 4 PB
-No fog
-4 contractors
-maybe 11 shot solar to mix things up ;)
-if server size is about 1500 systems 25 IGPs
-350 NPCs 60% evil, IG Ship % for npcs 25%
-Earth doesn't give colonists

If i think of anything else ill pop up ;)

please stop making them so big with 1000000 systems and planets.. not saying make it like civil war was but like the orginal GA was or classics.. the servers these days are just so big they are run by builders with 20m followers becuase there is 500m in followers on every server..\

and stop with the 15/150 solors... you are making every server for builders like lets do the 10 shot solors.. idc if its 150 or 120 but its getting to the point where builders run the game or servers are just dying becuase you have to fly 60 hops to invade a system of colonys then fly 60 hops to reship when you die or fly 60 hops to get nukes or something...

i wouldnt mind more of the orginal layouts too, its fun to invade the classic layouts every now then then, maybe make like 25% of the planets classic layouts with some having the random warp locs so its a new take on the classic layouts but still some of the orginal warp locs.

what if we took a new take on IGPs so they are what they used to be special cuase i feel like IGPs suck these days, make them 50k pop

i am so sorry to hear you cannot invade a colony at 15/150...

the server is 11/150 not much difference, colonies are far too easy to invade, if you cannot invade you need to learn to invade :) so keep trying and one day you will get there LOL

i mean i hate to agree with darkside but, um, invading is so hugging easy now compared to the earlier days of multi shots...

igs has 16 holds... laz usually only take 1 nuke... hellen keller could invade on a mod server.. and even no-mod still no harder than before...

also most 15/150s are rockies/mounts, which invaders usually take first anyway for wf so them being stronger than before on like 2 servers rly isnt that detrimental...



the idea that the game is dying because builders have it too easy is completely, utterly, and obvious backwards. New players don't stay, because they get wiped by 'vets.' Builders can lose tons of planets superfast because of how easy invading is. If pure builders ever "owned" servers nowadays theyd just get wiped by the first player who knows how to point a nuke.
